Technological advances in passive digital phenotyping present the opportunity to quantify neurological diseases using new approaches that may complement clinical assessments. Here, we studied multiple sclerosis (MS) as a model neurological disease for investigating physiometric and environmental signals. The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility and correlation of wearable biosensors with traditional clinical measures of disability both in clinic and in free-living in MS patients.

In this study, we aimed to compare the immune/inflammatory gene expressions in BD with those in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), an autoinflammatory disorder with innate immune activation.
Material And Methods: CD4+ T cells and CD14+ monocytes were isolated from the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of Behçet's disease patients (n=10), FMF (n=6) patients, and healthy controls (n=4) with microbeads, and then, the mRNA was isolated.
Antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) is responsible for up to 20%-30% of acute rejection episodes after kidney transplantation. In several cases, conventional therapies including plasmapheresis, intravenous immunoglobulin, and anti-CD20 therapy can resolve AMR successfully. But in some cases the load of immunoglobulins that can activate complement cascade may submerge the routine desensitization therapy and result in the formation of membrane attack complexes.

In this study, we aimed to determine whether the preference of natural versus man-made scenes is driven by bottom-up processing of the low-level visual features of nature. We used participants' ratings of perceived naturalness as well as esthetic preference for 307 images with varied natural and urban content.

We addressed this issue using experience-sampling, the most reliable method for measuring in-vivo behavior and psychological experience.

Methods: It was an experimental study performed from December 2007 to January 2008 in which the effects of the immunosuppressive agents tacrolimus and rapamycin on endothelial progenitr cells and circulating mature endothelial cells were analysed on 24 male wistar albino rats in a controlled environment model. Circulating cell populations were measured by flow-cytometric analysis.
Antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) in a group of preoperatively desensitized patients may follow a dreadful course and result in loss of the transplanted kidney. In several cases, conventional therapies including plasmapheresis, intravenous immunoglobulin, and anti-CD 20 therapy can resolve AMR successfully. But in some cases the load of immunoglobulins that can activate complement cascade may submerge the routine desensitization therapy and result in the formation of membrane attack complexes.

Considering that individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) have cognitive deficits for negative information, we predicted that people with MDD would have less differentiated negative emotional experiences than would healthy people. To test this hypothesis, we assessed participants' emotional experiences using a 7-day experience-sampling protocol.

Much research has investigated executive processes of WM in order to understand the operations that make WM "work." However, there is yet little consensus regarding how executive processes of WM are organized.

Therefore ACR poses a significant risk to human health. This study aimed to elucidate whether resveratrol (RVT) treatment could modulate ACR-induced oxidative DNA damage and oxidative changes in rat brain, lung, liver, kidney and testes tissues.

Individuals diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) often ruminate about their depression and their life situations, impairing their concentration and performance on daily tasks. We examined whether rumination might be due to a deficit in the ability to expel negative information from short-term memory (STM), and fMRI was used to examine the neural structures involved in this ability. MDD and healthy control (HC) participants were tested using a directed-forgetting procedure in a short-term item recognition task.

How could the visual system learn such a seemingly nonvisual representation? We propose that different forms of the same letter tend to appear in similar distributions of contexts (in the same words written in different ways) and that this environmental correlation interacts with correlation-based learning mechanisms in the brain to lead to the formation of ALIs. We review a neural network model that demonstrates the feasibility of this common contexts hypothesis and present two experiments confirming some novel predictions: (a) repeatedly presenting arbitrary visual stimuli in common contexts leads those stimuli to be confusable with each other, and (b) different forms of the same letter are more confusable with each other in word-like contexts than in nonword-like contexts.

More-accurate T cell-based tests of infection could enhance diagnosis by optimizing interpretation of the TST results.
Methods: A total of 979 child tuberculosis contacts in Istanbul underwent the TST and enzyme-linked immunospot assay.
Purpose: Acute anterior uveitis (AAU), seronegative spondyloarthropathies such as ankylosing spondylitis and reactive arthritis form the group of "HLA-B27-associated diseases." The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence and levels of serum antibodies against gram negative bacteria in Turkish patients with AAU.
Methods: Twenty-five patients each with previously diagnosed HLA-B27 positive and negative AAU and 25 age-and sex-matched healthy control subjects were included in the study.
Aim: The right atrium pressure load is increased in pulmonary stenosis (PS) that is a congenital anomaly and this changes the electrophysiological characteristics of the atria. However, there is not enough data on the issue of P wave dispersion (PWD) in PS.
Methods: Forty-two patients diagnosed as having valvular PS with echocardiography and 33 completely healthy individuals as the control group were included in the study.
Aim: Increased QT dispersion in cases of obstructive sleep apnea, which may induce serious arrhythmias, is a well-known process. However, there is little information about the QT dispersion in patients with simple snoring without apnea. We investigated QT dispersion in snoring and the effect of surgical therapy on QT dispersion.

This study aimed to investigate the aortic elastic properties of young pregnant women by comparing them with those of age-matched healthy females. The study group consisted of 21 pregnant women at a mean age of 26 +/- 1 years; 22 healthy women at a mean age of 25 +/- 1 years constituted the control group. Doppler-color echocardiographic variables and serum estradiol (E2) levels were measured from both groups.

An electrophysiologic study revealed atrial fibrillation with a very high frequency, short ventricular effective refractory period (130 milliseconds) and ventricular fibrillation inducible with 3 short coupled extrastimuli.

Twelve-lead electrocardiograms revealed no atrial activity and a wide QRS escape rhythm at 38 beats/min in a 20-year-old man who presented with syncope. Doppler echocardiography documented the absence of A wave both in the tricuspid and mitral valve flow. The only mechanical activity was documented at the left atrial appendage.
