Publications by authors named "Demin Ren"

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses a new method for functionalizing complex molecules by targeting both reactive and inert sites simultaneously, a challenging task in chemistry.
  • The authors present a modular approach that uses a combination of radical additions, functional group migrations, and dual catalysis (photo and cobalt) to achieve precise control over where reactions occur.
  • This innovative technique demonstrates compatibility with various chemical groups, allowing for the simultaneous transformation of multiple sites on a molecule with impressive selectivity.

A three-component reaction of antiaromatic -mesityl-3-nitronorcorrolatonickel(II) -NO with dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and PBu yields aromatic zwitterionic corrole nickel(II) complexes -R with one of the -substituents comprising a positively charged tributyl phosphonium group and negatively charged coordination core. Reaction of -NO with PBu alone resulted in a nonaromatic chiral adduct of a zwitterionic phlorine character with a -PBu group at a pyrrole β-position.

A series of novel imidazole-fused carbaporphyrinoids were obtained by a surprisingly simple approach by exploiting the reaction of tosylmethylisocyanide (TOSMIC) with readily obtainable 2-aza-21-carbaporphyrins. A facile methylation of silver(iii) complexes of these fused systems leads to cationic N-heterocyclic carbene precursors.

Thioethers are converted to thiocyanates via fluorium-initiated dealkylative cyanation. Selectfluor is used as the oxidant, and trimethylsilyl cyanide is used as the cyanation reagent. The well-streamlined procedure is user-friendly, operationally simple, and step-economical.
