Purpose: Angioplasty of lower extremity arteries with calcification may result in flow-limiting dissection requiring bail-out stenting with unfavorable long-term outcomes. Vessel preparation prior to angioplasty may improve immediate results of the angioplasty and long-term patency. This prospective study assessed the 12-month outcomes of patients who underwent novel vessel preparation catheter, the FLEX Vessel Prep™ System (FLEX VP), prior to drug-coated balloon angioplasty (DCB-PTA).

Thermal printing technology requires a color developer to activate the dye under the action of heat. Bisphenol A (BPA) has traditionally been used for this purpose, although it has increasingly been replaced by bisphenol S (BPS) in recent years. Due to concerns regarding their toxicity, the Swiss authorities have banned both BPA and BPS from thermal papers since 2020.

We first characterize the signals associated with different nonlinear orders in terms of spectrum, excitation intensity dependence, and relative signal strengths. Successively, on the basis of the polarization-resolved emission curves of the three harmonics, we discuss the interplay of susceptibility tensor components at different orders and show how polarization can be used as an optical handle to control the relative frequency conversion properties.

Alternatives to bisphenol A (BPA) are more and more used in thermal paper receipts. To get an overview of the situation in Switzerland, 124 thermal paper receipts were collected and analyzed. Whereas BPA was detected in most samples (n=100), some alternatives, namely bisphenol S (BPS), Pergafast® 201 and D-8 have been found in 4, 11 and 9 samples respectively.

While oral uptake is considered as the major route of exposure, the contribution of skin penetration has been recently discussed. In the present study, the dermal penetration rate of BPA has been determined in human skin in an in vitro test method according to the OECD Test Guideline 428.

The acetylation polymorphism is one of the most common genetic variations in the transformation of drugs and chemicals. More than 50% of individuals in Caucasian populations are homozygous for a recessive trait and are of the "slow acetylator" phenotype. They are less efficient than "rapid acetylators" in the metabolism of numerous drugs and environmental and industrial chemicals.

The New Zealand White rabbit provides a widely used animal model for the human acetylation polymorphism, which confers marked interindividual variation in the effect and toxicity of numerous drugs, chemicals, and potential carcinogens. The relationship of a recently isolated cDNA clone, designated rnat, to genetically polymorphic arylamine N-acetyltransferase (NAT; acetyl-CoA:arylamine N-acetyltransferase, EC 2.3.

It is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. A full-length cDNA for human cytochrome P-450db1, the deficient enzyme (also designated P450IID1 for P450 family II subfamily D isozyme 1), has recently been cloned.

The clone pheh32 contains an insert of 1742 base pairs with an open reading frame coding for a protein of 455 amino acids with a calculated Mr of 52,956. The nucleotide sequence is 77% similar to the previously reported rat xenobiotic epoxide hydrolase cDNA sequence.
