Purpose: This study aimed to stratify patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) based on their response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (nCRT) using DNA damage response (DDR)-related proteins measured in peripheral blood monocytes (PBMCs). We optimized and validated an innovative assay to quantify these proteins, providing a predictive framework for nCRT response.
Experimental Design: We used PBMCs collected from LARC patients either before or after standard course of ∼5.

This study endeavors to comprehensively explore and elucidate the seamless integration of NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) into multifaceted applications through the utilization of novel joining techniques. The primary focus lies in the utilization of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) to deposit Nitinol (NiTi) onto Copper (Cu), thereby introducing a transformative approach for their integration into electro-mechanical systems and beyond. Through a detailed examination of the NiTi/Cu bimetallic junction, using advanced analytical techniques including SEM, XRD, and DSC analyses, this research aims to unravel the intricate complexities inherent within the interface.

The bimetallic joint of NiTi and Ti is required for applications that require tailored properties at different locations within the same component, as well as to increase design flexibility while reducing material costs. However, because of the formation of brittle intermetallic phases, connecting NiTi and Ti is difficult.

This value considerably exceeds that for analogous Ca(Y,Dy)AlO in spite of the apparently enlarged Dy coordination sphere.

Restricting methionine inhibits the growth and proliferation of all tested types of cancer cells, leaving normal cells unaffected. Targeting methionine addiction with methioninase (METase), either alone or in combination with common cancer chemotherapy drugs, has been shown as an effective and safe therapy in various types of cancer cells and animal cancer models.

Decays that populate excited levels of the daughter nucleus above the threshold for particle emission lead to disintegration and are not considered. The ppp-, ppn-, and pnn-decays lead to Cu, Zn, and Ga nuclei, respectively.

A variety of data sharing challenges in scenarios such as smart cities have arisen, especially when attempting to semantically represent GDPR legal bases, such as consent, contracts and the data types and specific sources related to them. Most of the existing ontologies that model GDPR focus mainly on consent.

This variant causes an emergence of alternative amino acid sequence starting at codon 133 and a new stop codon formed in the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of the gene at amino acid position 158.

The ability to detect liquid argon scintillation light from within a densely packed high-purity germanium detector array allowed the Gerda experiment to reach an exceptionally low background rate in the search for neutrinoless double beta decay of Ge. Proper modeling of the light propagation throughout the experimental setup, from any origin in the liquid argon volume to its eventual detection by the novel light read-out system, provides insight into the rejection capability and is a necessary ingredient to obtain robust background predictions. In this paper, we present a model of the Gerda liquid argon veto, as obtained by Monte Carlo simulations and constrained by calibration data, and highlight its application for background decomposition.

Methods: Here, we analyzed biospecimens from 22 eoRCC patients that were seen at our institution for genetic counseling and tested negative for PGVs in RCC familial syndrome genes.
Plant cell cultures of various yew species are a profitable source of taxoids (taxane diterpenoids) with antitumor activity. So far, despite intensive studies, the principles of the formation of different groups of taxoids in cultured in vitro plant cells have not been fully revealed. In this study, the qualitative composition of taxoids of different structural groups was assessed in callus and suspension cell cultures of three yew species (, and ) and two hybrids.

The supercritical extraction method proved to be the most effective type of extraction, giving the highest yield of biologically active substances. Several experimental conditions were investigated in the pressure range of 50-400 bar, with 2% of ethanol as co-solvent in the liquid phase at a temperature in the range of 31-70 °C.

It is often asymptomatic but can have both thrombotic and haemorrhagic symptoms. The aim of this study was to describe the spectrum of F12 gene mutations in a Russian population and learn more about the relationship between F12 variants and clinical phenotypes.

An unresolved question is whether MMEJ is facilitated by a single Polθ-mediated end-joining pathway or consists of additional undiscovered pathways. We find that human X-family Polλ, which functions in NHEJ, additionally exhibits robust MMEJ activity like Polθ.

After Phase I (2011-2013), the experiment benefited from several upgrades, including an additional active veto based on LAr instrumentation and a significant increase of mass by point-contact germanium detectors that improved the half-life sensitivity of Phase II (2015-2019) by an order of magnitude. At the core of the background mitigation strategy, the analysis of the time profile of individual pulses provides a powerful topological discrimination of signal-like and background-like events.
