[Towards universal nomenclature for urgent surgical care].

In a modern professional literature the diseases, which undoubtedly threaten the patient's health and life, are called an urgent, special, emergent, fixed-date, etc. Not rare these terms are used simultaneously. Such a plurality of names of a quite dangerous state causes sometimes in these conditions uncertainty to seek help of a specialists and loss of a time.

[Experience of diagnosis and treatment of phlegmon in the diabetic foot syndrome].

In the clinic in 2007-2010 yrs 123 patients were treated for diabetic foot syndrome (DFS). In 29 (34.1%) of them the foot phlegmon was diagnosed, including 9 (31%), suffering osteomyelitis of 2-3 metatarsal bones.

[Peculiarities of diagnosis and treatment of varicothrombophlebitis of the lower extremities].

In a vascular surgery clinic there were treated 148 patients, suffering ascending thrombophlebitis--varicothrombophlebitis, in 2009-2010 yrs. Varicose diseases have lasted from 7 to 32 years. Among instrumental methods of investigation there was used ultrasound color angioscanning for diagnosis of varicothrombophlebitis.

[The diagnosis and treatment of patients with foreign bodies in the stomach and intestines].

The results of treatment of 39 patients with complications caused by presence of foreign bodies in the stomach and intestine are presented. Conservative treatment was performed in detection of a single foreign body with a length up to 10 cm. The foreign body staying at the same place for three days should serve an indication for operation.

[The diagnosis and treatment procedure in nonopaque foreign bodies in the stomach and intestines].

For 10 years, 26 patients underwent treatment for complications caused by presence in the stomach and intestine of the foreign bodies with low radio-opacity and echogenicity. All the patients were operated on. At operation, a cause of the disease was established: in 17 cases--a fish bone, in 5--a small chicken bone, in 1--a conifer needle, in 2--a wooden chip, in 1--a home-made toothpick.

[Relaparotomy in surgery of cholelithiasis].

In a period of 5 years 790 patients underwent operation in the surgical clinic for cholelithiasis. Relaparotomy had to be conducted on 23 (2.9%) patients because intraabdominal complications occurred: escape of bile from the gallbladder bed and choledochus in its drainage, and development of peritonitis in 13 patients, pancreatitis in 2 patients, abdominal abscesses in 5, bleeding into the free abdominal cavity and the gastrointestinal tract in 3 patients.

[Diagnosis and therapy of acute hemorrhoids].

The analysis of the results of treatment of 137 patients with acute hemorrhoids was carried out. A typical hemorrhoidal analysis was noted in 83.5% of the patients.

[Means of reducing mortality in acute appendicitis].

The results of operative interventions conducted for acute appendicitis in 81,656 patients are analysed. Postoperative mortality reduced from 0.2 to 0.

[Treatment of suppurative puerperal mastitis].

The treatment of 122 patients with acute puerperal mastitis consisted in wide opening of a purulent focus, excision of the necrotized tissues and rational drainage of the purulent cavities. After the operation, the antibiotics, intravenous infusion, drugs enhancing the specific and non-specific resistance of an organism were used. Average time of treating in hospital was 11 days, in infiltrative form of mastitis--6.
