Introduction: Thymomas are rare intrathoracic malignancies that can relapse after surgery. Whether or not Post-Operative RadioTherapy (PORT) should be delivered after surgery remains a major issue. RADIORYTHMIC is an ongoing, multicenter, randomized phase 3 trial addressing this question in patients with completely R0 resected Masaoka-Koga stage IIb/III thymoma.

Recently, adjuvant immunotherapy improved survival for these patients but we are still far from curing most of the patients with only a 57% survival remaining at 3 years. This poor survival is due to the resistance to chemoradiotherapy, local relapses, and distant relapses.

Because many changes have occurred in the management of patients with NSCLC, the role of three-dimensional (3D) conformal PORT warrants further investigation in patients with stage IIIAN2 NSCLC. Methods And Materials: All consecutive patients diagnosed with cervical carcinoma, and treated with concurrent radiochemotherapy from August 2017 to January 2020 were retrospectively included. An isodose conformation index (ICI) was developed to assess the percentage of the prescription isodose contained within the intermediate risk clinical target volume (IR-CTV).
Background: Fiducial markers (FMs) are useful for tracking small peripheral lung nodules (PLN) before stereotactic radiotherapy, but migration over the course of treatment may result in inaccurate dosing to the tumor. To minimize FM migration, coil-tailed FMs have been designed. Our objective was to assess both the feasibility of radial endobronchial ultrasonography (r-EBUS) placement and the migration rate of coil-tailed FMs.

Background: Stereotactic irradiation (SBRT) is a standard of care for inoperable stage I lung cancer and brain oligometastases from lung cancer but is controversial for extracranial oligometastases. We assessed outcomes of lung cancer patients with extracranial metastases in oligometastatic, oligorecurrent, oligopersistent and oligoprogressive settings ("oligometastatic spectrum") under strategies using SBRT +/- systemic treatments.
Methods: A retrospective multicentric study of consecutive lung cancer adult patients with 1-5 extracranial metastases treated with SBRT was conducted.
Purpose: Correct tandem implantation for cervix cancer intracavitary brachytherapy may be challenging. We investigated whether suboptimal implantation can be related to patient and disease characteristics and may result in subsequent underutilization of brachytherapy in cervical cancer.
Methods And Materials: Consecutive cervix cancer patients referred for intracavitary brachytherapy after external beam radiation therapy performed in several general hospitals from 2013 to 2017 were included.

Purpose: Intrathoracic sarcomas (ITS) are considered rare tumors and have a dismal prognosis. We investigated outcomes and risk factors for local control (LC), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) in patients with resected nonmetastatic ITS treated with or without adjuvant radiation therapy (RT) and/or chemotherapy.
Methods And Materials: Patients from the Rare Cancer Network database were studied.
Introduction: There is a lack of data on the efficacy and safety of concurrent chemoradiotherapy in elderly, limited-stage, patients with SCLC.
Methods: We compared outcomes of patients 70 years of age or older versus younger patients within the Concurrent Once-daily Versus twice-daily RadioTherapy (CONVERT) trial. Patients were randomized to receive 45 Gy/30 twice-daily fractions/19 days or 66 Gy/33 once-daily fractions/45 days concurrently with platinum-based chemotherapy.
Introduction: Randomized prospective studies on patients with metastatic non-small-cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) showed that anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1) agents notably improved 2-year overall survival (OS) rates, compared to docetaxel. NSCLC patients now receive nivolumab and irradiation, concurrently or not. However, little is known about the safety of this combination, even though the preclinical model suggested a possible synergic effect.

Methods: Data from patients treated with PCI from the CONVERT trial were analyzed.
Results: Four hundred forty-nine of 547 patients (82%) received PCI after completion of chemoradiotherapy.

Purpose: Morbidity and mortality review (MMR) meetings in radiation therapy (RT) departments aim to monitor radiation-induced toxicities and identify potential factors that may be correlated with their development and severity, particularly treatment planning errors. The aims of the Prospective Registration of Morbidity and Mortality, Individual Radiosensitivity and Radiation Technique (PROUST) survey were to make an inventory of existing MMR procedures and to describe their procedures.
Methods And Materials: The link to the web-based questionnaire of the PROUST survey was sent to 351 radiation oncologists working at 172 centers.
Sarcomas are a common type of tumor within the pediatric population. The utilization of proton therapy as a primary attribute the ability to spare adjacent healthy tissue, therefore, proton therapy has become a preferential indication in pediatrics compared to other photon irradiation modalities. Proton therapy is also a proven and historically validated irradiation technique in the treatment of chondrosarcomas and chordomas of the skull base and spine.

In this article we describe the occurrence of a postradiotherapy abscopal effect in an 89-year-old patient suffering from a metastatic neuroendocrine large-cell thymic carcinoma, the first case of the abscopal effect related to a thymic carcinoma reported in the literature. Along with the description of this case, we discuss and review the main potential mechanisms of bystander and abscopal effects in solid tumors so as to enable clinicians to identify and control these effects more resourcefully in the age of immunotherapy and stereotactic radiotherapy.

Methods: We performed a multicenter, retrospective study of TET and associated forms of cytopenia in France. Cases were collected by the French National Reference Center for Autoimmune Cytopenia and the French National Thymic Malignancy Interest Group (Réseau Tumeurs Thymiques et Cancer) and through a call for cases by the French Society of Internal Medicine.
Background: Concomitant platinum-based chemotherapy and radiotherapy (CT-RT) is the recommended treatment for unresectable locally advanced stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We conducted a phase II study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fractionated oral vinorelbine with cisplatin as induction CT followed by CT-RT.
Methods: Patients with stage III NSCLC received 2 induction cycles of intravenous vinorelbine 25 mg/m2 and cisplatin 80 mg/m2 on day 1 and oral vinorelbine 60 mg/m2 on day 8.

Purpose: To assess prospectively the prognostic value of FDG PET/CT during curative-intent radiotherapy (RT) with or without concomitant chemotherapy in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: Patients with histological proof of invasive localized NSCLC and evaluable tumour, and who were candidates for curative-intent radiochemotherapy (RCT) or RT were preincluded after providing written informed consent. Definitive inclusion was conditional upon significant FDG uptake before RT (PET₁).
