Impact of Early Nutritional Intervention During Cancer Treatment on Dietary Intakes and Cardiometabolic Health in Children and Adolescents.

Background/objectives: Pediatric cancer survivors are at greater risk of cardiometabolic complications than their peers. This study evaluates the preliminary impact of the VIE (Valorization, Implication, Education) intervention, which integrates nutrition, physical activity, and psychological support, on dietary intake and cardiometabolic health among children and adolescents during cancer treatment.

Methods: This comparative study includes pediatric cancer patients recruited to either the VIE intervention group or a control group receiving standard care.

Disease-specific definitions of new bone formation on spine radiographs: a systematic literature review.

Objectives: We aimed to explore the radiographic definitions of types of New Bone formation (NBF) by focusing on the terminology, description and location of the findings.

Methods: Three systematic literature reviews were conducted in parallel to identify the radiographic spinal NBF definitions for spondyloarthritis (SpA), Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (DISH) and Osteorathritis (OA). Study characteristics and definitions were extracted independently by two reviewers.

Livestock grazing and biodiversity: Effects on CO exchange in semi-arid Karoo ecosystems, South Africa.

Livestock use in semi-arid South African ecosystems has not been extensively studied in relation to the Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) of carbon dioxide (CO). We present four years of measurements from twinned eddy-covariance towers in Nama-Karoo, South Africa, to investigate the carbon fluxes and the impact of grazing intensity on NEE. The design contrasted NEE at a long-term site grazed at recommended levels (LG) with a long-term heavily grazed (EG) site that had been rested for 10 years, and was monitored for two years after which intensive grazing was reintroduced for this experiment.

The French ecology of medical care. A nationwide population-based cross sectional study.

Purpose: Studies in the United States, Canada, Belgium, and Switzerland showed that the majority of health problems are managed within primary health care; however, the ecology of French medical care has not yet been described.

Methods: Nationwide, population-based, cross sectional study. In 2018, we included data from 576,125 beneficiaries from the General Sample of Beneficiaries database.

Objective: To evaluate quality of life (Qol), pain level and medical consumption before and after uterine botulinum toxin (BT) injections in severe dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia and chronic pelvic pain.

Methods: This was a before and after study using the database of a pilot study (Open-label non comparative study, on 30 patients, with severe dysmenorrhoea in therapeutic failure) assessing efficacy and cost of uterine injection of BT in women with chronic pelvic pain after failure of conventional treatment (hormonal and analgesics) (CT). Main clinical outcome: Patient Global Impression of Improvement (PGI-I), EuroQol health-related QoL (EQ-5D-5L), EuroQol-visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS), Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI), utility measure of health-related quality of life (also called health state preference values), cost and of health care consumption were collected prospectively and analysed in the two phases (before and after).

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Prevalence of Chronic Pain Among Patients With Opioid Use Disorder and Receiving Opioid Substitution Therapy.

To assess studies examining the prevalence of chronic pain (CP) in patients treated with Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST - buprenorphine or methadone) for Opioid Used Disorder (OUD), we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature between the years 2000 and 2020. We searched EMBASE, PsycINFO, Cochrane, and MEDLINE databases and included studies assessing the prevalence of CP in OUD adults treated with OST. The studies were assessed for risk of bias and overall quality and the results were pooled using a random-effects model.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic performance of preoperative MRI in evaluating posterolateral corner (PLC) structures after acute knee dislocation (KD) and determine the correlation of MRI with operative findings for grading structure integrity.

Methods: Acute knee (femorotibial) dislocations between 2005 and 2020 with preoperative MRI and surgical posterolateral corner repair were identified from a single academic institution. From MRI, integrity was evaluated for PLC structures: lateral collateral ligament (LCL), popliteus tendon (PT), biceps femoris tendon (BFT), and ligamento-capsular complex (LCC).

This study aims to describe the feasibility of a nutritional intervention that promotes healthy eating habits early after cancer pediatric diagnosis in patients and their parents. Participants were recruited 4 to 12 weeks after cancer diagnosis as part of the VIE study. The one-year nutritional intervention included an initial evaluation and 6 follow-up visits every 2 months with a registered dietician.

Transcultural validation of a French-European version of the Prescription Opioid Misuse Index Scale (POMI-5F).

Purpose: The Prescription Opioid Misuse Index scale (POMI) is a brief questionnaire used to assess opioid prescription misuse. In view of the increase in the prescription of opioid analgesics for chronic noncancer pain (CNCP), this tool is particularly useful during medical consultations to screen opioid misuse in patients using opioids. We sought to generate and validate a French-European translation of the POMI.

Opioid Analgesic Prescription in French Children: A National Population-Based Study.

Codeine use was restricted in 2013 and is currently contraindicated for children below the age of 12 years. We examined how the prescription of opioid analgesics in children in France evolved between 2012 and 2018. Our population-based study from the SNIIRAM database (National System of Health Insurance Inter-Regime Information) was designed to determine trends in opioid prescription from 2012 to 2018 in all French children.

[Therapeutic Education Programs for the Patient (ETP) undergoing an allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation: Guidelines from the Francophone Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (SFGM-TC)].

Patients undergoing an allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (allo-HCT) need to understand and adhere to the transplant process as well as post-transplant follow-up requirements. A working group has met during the eleventh edition of the Francophone Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (SFGM-TC) Practice Harmonization Workshops. The analysis of a survey that was sent to several transplant centers belonging to the SFGM-TC has been used as a milestone to this article.

The hippocampus is essential for consolidating transient experiences into long-lasting memories. Methods: Performance evaluation of the CN-6000 analyzer was conducted for 10 tests including prothrombin time (PT), activated partial prothrombin time (aPTT), fibrinogen level, anti-Xa activity, and antithrombin activity using a unique portfolio of liquid ready-to-use reagents. Precision, sample and reagent carryovers, throughput, and sample turnaround time (STAT) function were prospectively assessed.

The cultivation of watermelons has been a fast growing agriculture industry in the arid, desert regions of Morocco, relying on groundwater pumping and transformation of rangelands to farms due to growing demand for the fruit in national and international markets. This study aims to measure the impact of watermelon expansion on groundwater resources in the Feija Basin, which is one of the largest watermelon cultivation areas in Southern Morocco. Field measurements, statistics, Kriging interpolation, and regression methods were used to measure the temporal variations in the groundwater level (GL) and salinity between 2013 and 2018 to determine the correlation between different parameters.

[Opioid prescriptions in bone metastatic cancer patients: A cross sectional nationwide pharmacoepidemiological study].

Sleep loss drives acetylcholine- and somatostatin interneuron-mediated gating of hippocampal activity to inhibit memory consolidation.

Sleep loss disrupts consolidation of hippocampus-dependent memory. To characterize effects of learning and sleep loss, we quantified activity-dependent phosphorylation of ribosomal protein S6 (pS6) across the dorsal hippocampus of mice. We find that pS6 is enhanced in dentate gyrus (DG) following single-trial contextual fear conditioning (CFC) but is reduced throughout the hippocampus after brief sleep deprivation (SD; which disrupts contextual fear memory [CFM] consolidation).

Sleep and sleep loss are thought to impact synaptic plasticity, and recent studies have shown that sleep and sleep deprivation (SD) differentially affect gene transcription and protein translation in the mammalian forebrain. However, much less is known regarding how sleep and SD affect these processes in different microcircuit elements within the hippocampus and neocortex, for example, in inhibitory versus excitatory neurons. Here, we use translating ribosome affinity purification (TRAP) and hybridization to characterize the effects of sleep versus SD on abundance of ribosome-associated transcripts in Camk2a-expressing (Camk2a) pyramidal neurons and parvalbumin-expressing (PV) interneurons in the hippocampus and neocortex of male mice.

Prevalence and Characteristics of Chronic Pain in Buprenorphine and Methadone-Maintained Patients.
