According to the speed-control hypothesis, the rate of force development (RFD) during ballistic contractions is dictated by force amplitude because time to peak force (TPF) remains constant regardless of changes in force amplitude. However, this hypothesis has not been tested at force levels below 20% of an individual's maximum voluntary contraction (MVC). Pangenomes provide access to an accurate representation of the genetic diversity of species, both in terms of sequence polymorphisms and structural variants (SVs). Here we generated the Saccharomyces cerevisiae Reference Assembly Panel (ScRAP) comprising reference-quality genomes for 142 strains representing the species' phylogenetic and ecological diversity. Objectives: Because NRTIs can have fetal toxicities, we evaluated a perinatal NRTI-sparing strategy to prevent perinatal HIV transmission. Our primary objective was to determine the proportion maintaining a viral load (VL) of <50 copies/mL up to delivery on darunavir/ritonavir monotherapy, without requiring treatment intensification.

Individuals bereaved by intrafamilial homicide, in which the perpetrator and decedent were both members of the same family, experience an elevated risk for risk for mental health complications. Given the contextual complexity of intrafamilial homicide (IFH) and the negative sequalae this form of loss can engender, psychological interventions may assist survivors with adjustment on a number of fronts. This scoping review therefore addresses an important knowledge gap by summarizing the limited information on interventions specific to intrafamilial homicide survivors.

Purpose: The goal of this paper was to determine if sports participation influences torque control differently for adolescent boys and young men during a slow ramp task.

Methods: Twenty-one adolescent boys (11 athletes) and 31 young men (16 athletes) performed a slow ramp increase in plantar flexion torque from 0 to maximum. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is notoriously aggressive with a high metastatic potential, and targeted therapies are lacking. Using transcriptomic and histologic analysis of TNBC samples, we found that a high expression of thrombospondin-1 (TSP1), a potent endogenous inhibitor of angiogenesis and an activator of latent transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), is associated with (i) gene signatures of epithelial-mesenchymal transition and TGF-β signaling, (ii) metastasis and (iii) a reduced survival in TNBC patients. In contrast, in tumors expressing low levels of TSP1, gene signatures of interferon gamma (IFN-γ) signaling and lymphocyte activation were enriched.

Genomic engineering methods represent powerful tools to examine chromosomal modifications and to subsequently study their impacts on cellular phenotypes. However, quantifying the fitness impact of translocations, independently from base substitutions or the insertion of genetic markers, remains a challenge. Given the alarming opioid epidemic, high prevalence of parents involved in substance use treatment programs for opioid use disorder, and critical role that parenting stress plays on opioid use and relapse, the current study examines stressors experienced by mothers enrolled in substance use treatment. Specifically, interviews were conducted with mothers with opioid use disorder (OUD) enrolled in an inpatient substance use treatment program, to identify common themes and develop recommendations related to interventions targeting common stressors among this population. A significant number of parent-related, substance use-related, and other stressors were present prior to and during substance use treatment; with more stressors reported during treatment than prior to treatment.

Genome replication is highly regulated in time and space, but the rules governing the remodeling of these programs during evolution remain largely unknown.
