Methods: A systematic literature search was performed in PubMed/Medline, Google Scholar and Web of Science for original articles comparing LHM and POEM.

Purpose The objective of the present study is to evaluate the distribution of the transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) and the totally extraperitoneal repair (TEP) procedures among the obese and non-obese patient populations, to show how obesity impacts daily practice by reviewing the experience of a single center, and finally, to assess the outcomes of the operations. Methods All patients who underwent elective, minimally invasive inguinal hernia repair in our hospital from January 2017 to January 2022 were included in the present study. The data that were analyzed were patient demographics, each individual patient's American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) score, the minimally invasive technique (TAPP or TEP) utilized, the body mass index (BMI), and other comorbidities such as underlying diabetes, hypertension, and smoking status.
