Background: Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology enables the translation of 2-dimensional (2D) medical imaging into a physical replica of a patient's individual anatomy and may enhance the understanding of congenital heart defects (CHD). We aimed to evaluate the usefulness of a spectrum of 3D-printed models in teaching CHD to medical students.

Results: We performed a prospective, randomized educational procedure to teach fifth year medical students four CHDs (atrial septal defect (ASD, n = 74), ventricular septal defect (VSD, n = 50), coarctation of aorta (CoA, n = 118) and tetralogy of Fallot (ToF, n = 105)).

Aims: The main terminology used to describe heart failure (HF) is based on measurement of the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). LVEF in the range of 40-49% was recently defined as HF with mid-range EF (HFmrEF) by the 2016 European Society of Cardiology guidelines. The purpose of our study was to assess the clinical profile and prognosis of patients with HF according to this new classification.

Managing patients with new oral anticoagulants in perioperative period is not yet well protocolized. We report a clinical case of a critical haematuria after prostate biopsies to a patient treated with RIVAROXABAN. Monitoring and treatment of the haematuria have been difficult due to the lack of biological control and antidote for this treatment.

The biopsy of the prostate is a common medical act, which is little invasive and can easily be practiced in external care. Some cases of early rectal or urinary bleedings, which mainly stopped spontaneously, have been described in the literature. The case reported here is that of a patient whose hemorrhagic syndrome arose more than two weeks after the biopsy and required an endoscopic haemostatic treatment.

Oncocytosis is a term recently used to describe diffuse renal involvement by numerous oncocytic nodules. We report herein a case of a 53-year-old man with end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis. His kidneys were involved by numerous tumors.

Objective: We report the experience of a centre which treated symptomatic ureteric stones exclusively by ureteroscopy.

Methods: From 1987 to 1993, 379 patients underwent ureteroscopy for ureteric stones, corresponding to 231 men and 148 women, between the ages of 8 and 80 years. The stones were situated in the pelvic ureter in 78.

Purpose: We investigated the clinical and pathological features, and long-term followup of patients with radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma of 30 mm. or smaller and a normal contralateral kidney.

Materials And Methods: Between 1973 and 1993, 74 patients 29 to 83 years old (average age 60) underwent radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma of 30 mm.

The purpose of this study was to assess the value of the fast imaging sequence called RARE (rapid acquisition with relaxation enhancement) MR urography (or RMU) in pregnant women with painful ureterohydronephrosis. A total of 17 pregnant women with an acute flank pain were examined with RMU. Results were compared with those of US, X-rays and the evolution of symptoms.

The authors report a case of delayed diagnosis of traumatic haematoma of the right adrenal gland. Chronic unilateral haematomas are rare and their preoperative diagnosis is often difficult because of the long interval since trauma, which may be completely forgotten. This raises the problem of an adrenal mass whose origin is often only detected on histology of the operative specimen.

Purpose: to assess the value of the fast imaging sequence called RARE-MR-Urography (RMU) for the diagnosis of pathologic ureterohydronephrosis during pregnancy.

Materials And Methods: 15 pregnant women with an acute flank pain were examined with RMU. Results were compared with those of ultrasonography (US), X-rays, and the evolution of symptoms.

Vesicosphincteric disorders are frequent in multiple sclerosis and lead to the diagnosis of this disease in 2 to 5% of cases. The clinical signs are dominated by urgency (60 to 80%), frequency (40 to 60%) and incontinence due to vesical disinhibition. Dysuria (15 to 30%) occurs in an areflexive or hyperactive bladder, associated with vesicosphincteric dyssnergia.

Authors report a new case of vaginal metastasis from renal cell carcinoma. Their main characteristics are reviewed. Possible retrograde venous spread and genital vein ligation prior to manipulation of the kidney are highlighted.

25 patients with non complicated renal stones were treated by extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) using Sonolith 3000 an electrohydraulic generator type. They were evaluated before, 15 days and 3 months after ESWL by renal scintigraphy, using for 15 of them technetium -99m dimer captosuccinic acid and technetium -99m-diethylene-triamine acetate for the last 10. This follow up scintigraphic study shows no reduction of glomerular filtration rate after ESWL but some focal parenchymal lesions.

Amyloidosis of the bladder associated with systemic amyloidosis secondary to rheumatoid arthritis is a rare disease. Due to the absence of routine screening, its incidence appears to be understimated and only 11 cases, all symptomatic, have been reported in the literature. The symptoms of this disease are dominated by macroscopic haematuria, always massive, which may be life-threatening.
