Background: Cardiac uptake on technetium-99m whole-body scintigraphy (WBS) is almost pathognomonic of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. The rare false positives are often related to light-chain cardiac amyloidosis. However, this scintigraphic feature remains largely unknown, leading to misdiagnosis despite characteristic images.

Objectives: To report the tolerability, safety, and efficacy of the lyophilized amniotic membrane (AM) Visio-AMTRIX placed under a bandage contact lens (BCL) in treating persistent epithelial defects (PEDs).

Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients with PEDs treated with a lyophilized AM placed under the BCL. Patients with PEDs who did not respond to medical treatment were included.

Eyelid Chemical Burns: A Multidisciplinary And Challenging Approach.

During second- and third-degree eyelid sulfuric acid burns, many surgeons prefer to wait until primary wound separation occurs before grafting. However, this approach may miss the chance to recover the eyelids and can cause ectropion, resulting in delayed eyeball healing with exposure keratitis. We propose that early eyelid release and grafting makes a significant difference in long-term outcomes and improves eyeball healing.

Reduction in ionizing radiation exposure during minimally invasive anterior plate osteosynthesis of distal radius fracture: Naive versus deliberate practice.

This study aimed to decrease surgeon exposure to ionizing radiation through a new learning technique, "deliberate practice", which consists in improving performance by setting goals with feedback. The hypothesis was that exposure to ionizing radiation during distal radius fracture surgery using the minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique decreased faster with "deliberate" practice than with "naïve" practice. Radiographic dosimetry was measured in the first 30 fractures operated on by MIPO by 6 surgeons.

Methods And Results: 454 ATTR-CA patients without tafamidis (Cohort A) and 248 ATTR-CA with tafamidis (Cohort B) were enrolled. Event-free survival (EFS) events were death, heart transplant, or acute heart failure.
