Background: In the murine K/BxN serum transfer rheumatoid arthritis (RA) model, tactile allodynia persists after resolution of inflammation in male and partially in female wild type (WT) mice, which is absent in Toll-like receptor (TLR)4 deficient animals. We assessed the role of TLR4 on allodynia, bone remodeling and afferent sprouting in this model of arthritis.

Nociceptive afferent signaling evoked by inflammation and nerve injury is mediated by the opening of ligand-gated and voltage-gated receptors or channels localized to cholesterol-rich lipid raft membrane domains. Dorsal root ganglion (DRG) nociceptors express high levels of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which also localize to lipid rafts. Genetic deletion or pharmacologic blocking of TLR4 diminishes pain associated with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).

Purpose: To determine the relationship between managers' leadership styles (ie, transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire) and job satisfaction as perceived by technologists in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging departments.

Methods: A random sample of 10 000 American Society of Radiologic Technologists members with MR credentials was invited to complete a survey that combined 2 previously validated instruments, the Vannsimpco Leadership Survey and the Job Satisfaction Survey. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to determine the relationship between managers' leadership styles and technologists' job satisfaction.

A high-intensity potentially tissue-injuring stimulus generates a homotopic response to escape the stimulus and is associated with an affective phenotype considered to represent pain. In the face of tissue or nerve injury, the afferent encoding systems display robust changes in the input-output function, leading to an ongoing sensation reported as painful and sensitization of the nociceptors such that an enhanced pain state is reported for a given somatic or visceral stimulus. Our understanding of the mechanisms underlying this non-linear processing of nociceptive stimuli has led to our appreciation of the role played by the functional interactions of neural and immune signaling systems in pain phenotypes.

Mechanical allodynia is a cardinal sign of several inflammatory pain disorders where nerve growth factor, a prototypic neurotrophin, plays a crucial role by binding to TrkA receptors. Here, we took the advantage of our generated knock-in mouse model expressing a chimeric TrkA/TrkC receptor that seems to not specifically develop mechanical allodynia after inflammation, to identify the TrkA downstream pathways involved in this phenomenon. We confirmed and extended that disrupting TrkA-specific pathways leads to a specific deficit in mechanical hypersensitivity development after somatic (systemic nerve growth factor administration and paw incision) and, to a lesser extent, visceral injuries.
