Introduction: Cardiac metastasis (CM) is a rare lung cancer location. It often remains clinically silent but may cause life-threatening complications. Better survival rates thanks to the immunotherapy revolution and the improving performance of imaging lead to an increasing number of CM diagnosis.

Aim: To investigate the relationship between plasma C-reactive protein (CRP), serum ferritin (SF) and transferrin saturation (TS), with the objective of establishing a straightforward ratio applicable in the presence of inflammatory syndrome.
Design: Test prospective cohort and validation retrospective cohort.
Introduction: Assessing labial salivary gland exocrinopathy is a cornerstone in primary Sjögren's syndrome. Currently this relies on the histopathologic diagnosis of focal lymphocytic sialadenitis and computing a focus score by counting lym=phocyte foci. However, those lesions represent advanced stages of primary Sjögren's syndrome, although earlier recognition of primary Sjögren's syndrome and its effective treatment could prevent irreversible damage to labial salivary gland.

PCS represents a major health issue worldwide because it severely impacts patients' work activities and their quality of life. In the absence of treatment for both conditions and given the beneficial effect of pacing strategies in ME/CFS, we conducted this study to assess the effectiveness of pacing in PCS patients.

In this context, chloride remediation can be achieved using high-salt accumulating plants. However, there is very limited information on the comparative potential of different species in the same environment, and only scarce data concerning their efficiency as a function of growth stage.

Methods: We retrospectively included patients having two B measurements with a B initially ≥ 1000 ng/l and a solid cancer diagnosed between the measurements. Patients were included in the Curative or Supportive group according to their treatments.
SARS-CoV-2 started spreading toward the end of 2019 causing COVID-19, a disease that reached pandemic proportions among the human population within months. The reasons for the spectrum of differences in the severity of the disease across the population, and in particular why the disease affects more severely the aging population and those with specific preconditions are unclear. We developed machine learning models to mine 240,000 scientific articles openly accessible in the CORD-19 database, and constructed knowledge graphs to synthesize the extracted information and navigate the collective knowledge in an attempt to search for a potential common underlying reason for disease severity.

The generation of such datasets relies on registering individual gene expression images to a reference volume, a task encumbered by the diversity of staining techniques employed, and by deformations and artifacts in the soft tissue. Recently, deep learning models have garnered particular interest as a viable alternative to traditional intensity-based algorithms for image registration.

We hypothesized that new or non-typical symptoms occurring long enough before onset of baseline symptom exacerbation could be warning signals predicting PEM. Adult ME/CFS patients who attended the internal medicine department of Angers University Hospital (France) between October 2011 and December 2019 were included in a retrospective medical records review.

This is of importance because several mucosal and neurological features are common to these two conditions and could be prevented or reversed in case of B12 deficiency. We aimed to evaluate the association between pSS and B12 deficiency.

To protect national biodiversity and economy, authorities promote the use of local markets without however providing the method to do so. This study deals with the feasibility of using Sr stable isotopes for discriminating the origin of aquatic plants at a worldwide scale.

To disentangle correlation from causality effects, the authors leverage a French panel survey to estimate a bivariate dynamic probit model that can account for the persistence effect, initial conditions, and unobserved heterogeneity. The results highlight the crucial role of all three components and reveal strong dual causality between health and employment status.

This paper examines the association between income, income inequalities and health inequalities in Europe. The contribution of this paper is to study different hypotheses linking self-perceived health status and income, allowing for the identification of different mechanisms in income-related health inequalities. Using data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (15 countries), we take the advantage of the cross-sectional and longitudinal nature of this rich database to make robust results.

Higher wages may be required to compensate for a less pleasant environment or a higher cost of living. If wages in a competing sector within an area are less flexible and therefore less competitive this may lead to an inability to employ staff.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the objective and subjective training for young cyclists that is prescribed by their coaches. Seven cyclists performed an incremental exercise to exhaustion before and after 14 weeks of training using an incremental test to determine their maximal oxygen uptake (VO(2) (max)), the velocity associated with VO(2) (max) (vVO(2) (max)), and the velocity associated with the ventilatory threshold (vVT). Cyclists completed a training record with the actual content and the perceived exertion of each training session during these 14 weeks.

It was hypothesised that these parameters would be related to the type of training sport practised. 31 trained women (10 endurance-trained runners, 10 sprinters, and 11 handball players) performed two exercises to exhaustion on an outdoor track.

This paper investigates on the existence of physician-induced demand (PID) for French physicians. The test is carried out for GPs and specialists, using a representative sample of 4500 French self-employed physicians over the 1979-1993 period. These physicians receive a fee-for-services (FFS) payment and fees are controlled.

Microinjection of 12.5 nmol of norepinephrine into the DMH increased blood plasma concentration of glucose and FFA, decreased triglycerides, and did not change plasma insulin within 5 min; after 20 min, blood glucose and FFA reached control values.
