Background: Valacyclovir-induced neurotoxicity is a rare side effect. The aim of this study was to perform a retrospective analysis of patients with valacyclovir-induced neurotoxicity and establish valacyclovir plasma concentrations in a tertiary hospital between January 2018 and November 2022.
Case Descriptions: In total 208 patients were identified with measured acyclovir concentrations, and the electronic health records of these patients were analysed.

Introduction: poisoning is a serious health problem with a mortality rate of 10-40%. Poisonings are characterized by severe liver and kidney toxicity. The effect of poisonings on hematological parameters has not been systematically evaluated thus far.

In this study, we investigated the effects of the main toxins of , α- and β-amanitin, on hematopoietic cell viability in vitro.

Several treatments are available, but their effectiveness has not been systematically evaluated. We performed a systematic review to investigate the effect of the most commonly used therapies: N-acetylcysteine (NAC), benzylpenicillin (PEN), and silibinin (SIL) on patient outcomes.

Introduction: Nicotine is an addictive and poisonous agent. The recent development of e-cigarettes has caused a new demand for highly concentrated nicotine-containing solutions. These concentrated nicotine solutions have also increased the risk of nicotine overdoses.

Studies have highlighted that the deposition of various basement membrane proteins in the lung tissue is altered and that these changes reflect tissue compartment specificity. Inflammatory responses in both diseases may result in the deregulation of production and degradation of these proteins.

SE can be induced in vitro by exposing explants to growth regulators, such as the auxinic herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). The plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) has been proposed to be a downstream signalling component at the intersection between 2,4-D- and stress-induced SE, but it is not known how these pathways interact to induce cell totipotency.

While soy protein-widely used as an ingredient in meat replacers-is recovered through a wet fractionation, protein recovery from starch bearing pulses like faba bean can be done via dry fractionation. This process does not require drying or heating steps and therefore, keeps the original protein functionality intact.

Three allergenic proteins have already been identified, and it is expected that additional allergens are present in cashew nut. pathogenesis-related protein 10 (PR10) allergens from pollen have been found to elicit similar allergic reactions as those from nuts and seeds.

Airway inflammation and remodeling are characteristic features of asthma, with both contributing to airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) and lung function limitation. Airway smooth muscle (ASM) accumulation and extracellular matrix deposition are characteristic features of airway remodeling, which may contribute to persistent AHR. Laminins containing the α2-chain contribute to characteristics of ASM remodeling in vitro and AHR in animal models of asthma.

Those conditions can induce protein oxidation, leading to a decrease in their susceptibility to proteolysis by digestive enzymes. We aimed to investigate the effects of thermomechanical processing on oxidation and in vitro gastric digestion of commercial soy protein ingredients.

Here, we report that DELAY OF GERMINATION 1-LIKE 4 (DOGL4) is a major inducer of reserve accumulation during seed maturation.

Biodegradable biopolymer hydrogels have long held promise as candidates for creating tailored release profiles due to the ability to control gel porosity. The present study describes the creation of novel hierarchical biopolymer hydrogels for the controlled release of lipids/lipophilic actives pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and mathematically describes the mechanisms that affect the timing of release.

The increasing problem of invasive Candida infections may be related to higher prevalence of immunocompromised older people and the emergence of treatment resistance. Older people, especially the frail and critically ill, are at higher risk of medication-related harmful effects due to changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, which may be further complicated by organ dysfunction, diminished homeostatic control, co-morbidities and polypharmacy.

The objective of this study was to determine the viscoelastic properties of concentrated SPI-pectin blends under similar conditions as during shear-induced structuring, and after cooling. A closed cavity rheometer was used to measure these properties under these conditions.

Cases of oral haloperidol decanoate intoxications have not been described in literature. In this report, we present for the first time a case of an oral ingestion of haloperidol decanoate of a young woman who presented to the emergency department following an intentional oral ingestion of 1 ampoule of haloperidol decanoate 100mg.
