The impact of nutritional modification to increase functional polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), such as n-3 and n-6 fatty acids (FA) or conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), on milk proteome profile during early lactation remains largely unknown. We used an untargeted proteomics approach to investigate the impact of lactation day and PUFA supplementation on the proteome signature in skimmed milk over the course of early lactation. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a group of natural isomers of the n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) linoleic acid, exerting biological effects on cow physiology. This study assessed the impact of the mixture 50:50 (vol:vol) of CLA isomers (cis-9, trans-11 and trans-10, cis-12) on bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) proteome, identifying 1608 quantifiable proteins. A supervised multivariate statistical analysis, sparse variant partial least squares - discriminant analysis (sPLS-DA) for paired data identified 407 discriminant proteins (DP), allowing the clustering between the CLA and controls.

Results: To address this issue, we describe a six-steps tutorial for the best practices in genomic data integration, consisting of (1) designing a data matrix; (2) formulating a specific biological question toward data description, selection and prediction; (3) selecting a tool adapted to the targeted questions; (4) preprocessing of the data; (5) conducting preliminary analysis, and finally (6) executing genomic data integration.

Hydrophilic chitosan (CHT) and hydrophobic polyε-caprolactone (PCL) are well-known biocompatible and biodegradable polymers that have many applications in the biomedical and pharmaceutical fields. But the mixtures of these two compounds are considered incompatible, which makes them not very interesting. To avoid this problem and to further extend the properties of these homopolymers, the synthesis of a new graft copolymer, the fully biodegradable amphiphilic poly(ε-caprolactone-g-chitosan) (PCL-g-CHT) is described, with an unusual "reverse" structure formed by a PCL backbone with CHT grafts, unlike the "classic" CHT-g-PCL structure with a CHT main chain and PCL grafts.

L-homoserine is a pivotal intermediate in the carbon and nitrogen metabolism of However, this non-canonical amino acid cannot be used as a nitrogen source for growth. Furthermore, growth of this bacterium in a synthetic media is potently inhibited by L-homoserine. To understand this dual effect, an adapted laboratory evolution (ALE) was applied, which allowed the isolation of a strain able to grow with L-homoserine as the nitrogen source and was, at the same time, desensitized to growth inhibition by this amino acid.

In the biomedical field, degradable chemically crosslinked elastomers are interesting materials for tissue engineering applications, since they present rubber-like mechanical properties matching those of soft tissues and are able to preserve their three-dimensional (3D) structure over degradation. Their use in biomedical applications requires surgical handling and implantation that can be a source of accidental damages responsible for the loss of properties. This study introduces and illustrates the potential of an integrated multi-omics approach in investigating the underlying biology of complex traits such as childhood aggressive behavior. In 645 twins (cases = 42%), we trained single- and integrative multi-omics models to identify biomarkers for subclinical aggression and investigated the connections among these biomarkers. Our data comprised transmitted and two non-transmitted polygenic scores (PGSs) for 15 traits, 78,772 CpGs, and 90 metabolites.
