Are there pulmonary sequelae in patients recovering from COVID-19?

It has been recently hypothesized that infection by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) may lead to fibrotic sequelae in patients recovering from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this observational study, hospitalized patients with COVID-19 had a HRCT of the chest performed to detect the extension of fibrotic abnormalities via Hounsfield Units (HU). At follow-up, the lung density significantly improved in both lungs and in each lobe of all patients, being in the normal range (- 950 to - 700 HU).

Longitudinal functional changes with clinically significant radiographic progression in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: are we following the right parameters?

Background: Progression of the disease in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is difficult to predict, due to its variable and heterogenous course. The relationship between radiographic progression and functional decline in IPF is unclear. We sought to confirm that a simple HRCT fibrosis visual score is a reliable predictor of mortality in IPF, when longitudinally followed; and to ascertain which pulmonary functional variables best reflect clinically significant radiographic progression.

Knowledge of the vascular anatomy of the upper abdomen is important in the daily practice of surgeons specialized in the hepatobiliary and pancreatic area, and for general surgeons and radiologists, mainly those involved in interventional radiology. Since anatomical variants of the celiac axis and hepatic arteries are common, an accurate description of vascularization is required before procedures to avoid iatrogenic vascular changes. We reported a case of a young male patient with HBV related cirrhosis, who came to our institution for the treatment of 2 HCC nodules.

Cyst of canal of Nuck in a young woman affected by kniest syndrome: ultrasound and MRI features.

Swelling of the inguinal region in a woman is a frequent finding in daily clinical practice. We focused our attention on the possible differential diagnoses, giving emphasis to the less common causes of this frequent female disorder and describing their characteristics in ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. The causes of swelling in this region may be multiple and in this paper, we will show a rare case of diagnosis of Nuck's canal cyst in a patient with Kniest Syndrome.

Associated Pulmonary Hypertension Is an Independent Contributor to Exercise Intolerance in Chronic Fibrosing Interstitial Pneumonias.

Background: Associated pulmonary hypertension (APH) is frequently observed in fibrosing interstitial pneumonias (FIP), such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). APH is associated with worse prognosis, but it remains unclear whether it is associated with greater functional impairment. Six-minute walk distance (6MWD) is widely used to assess functional capacity in pulmonary hypertension and FIP.
