Paths and inter-mediations between Brazilian Health Services and Youth Detention Centers.

Socio-education is an educational and (re)socialization proposal for young people having troubles with the law, a law which also includes the right to health care guaranteed by the Unified Health System (SUS). This study aims to investigate the relationship between health services and socio-educational units in Paraná state, from the perspective of service workers and managers. The qualitative and exploratory research consisted of sixteen semi-structured interviews in five municipalities in the state, with subsequent categorization of the narratives based on hermeneutic analysis.

[What does a 24-hour child and adolescent psychosocial care center do in the city of Curitiba, Brazil?].

The National Policy on Mental Health for Children and Adolescents is still poorly structured in Brazil. In general, it replicates the policy aimed at adults, which creates problems for its articulation with networks. The objective of this study was to analyze and describe the actions carried out at a 24-hour Child and Adolescent Psychosocial Care Center (CAPSi) with beds in the city of Curitiba, Brazil.

Evaluation of nonadherence to treatment among patients with schizophrenia attending psychosocial care centers in the south region of Brazil.

Introduction: The treatment of schizophrenia aims to reduce symptoms, improve quality of life and promote recovery from debilitating effects. Nonadherence to treatment is related to several factors and may lead to persistence of symptoms and relapse. Worldwide, the rate of nonadherence to treatment in individuals with schizophrenia is around 50%.

[Autonomous Medication Management: an analytical intervention in mental health care services].

In a context of high rates of medicalization of the population and in light of the scantly critical use of psychiatric medications in mental health services, this paper reports aspects of a qualitative study that had the opportunity to intervene in care practices in three major Brazilian cities. Following the principle of Brazilian Psychiatric Reform championing users' rights to participate in decisions about their treatment, the research intervened in psychosocial care centers (CAPS) seeking the empowerment of the users regarding the use of drugs in their therapeutic projects. Interviews were conducted and focus groups set up.

[Mental health in primary care: an evaluative study in a large Brazilian city].

Primary Healthcare (PHC) is internationally acknowledged to be responsible for dealing with most community health problems, including mental health issues. The scope of this work was to evaluate the links between primary care and mental health in areas of high social vulnerability in a large Brazilian city (Campinas, State of São Paulo) using parameters defined in this study. Evaluative and participative - mainly qualitative - research, was conducted.
