Salinity acclimation of euryhaline ciliate Paramecium calkinsi evaluated by swimming velocity was over in 4-5 days. In two series of the main experiment, the acclimation was over in two and three days when actinomycin D (an inhibitor of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase) was added after various periods of the ciliate incubation at a changed salinity (0, 3, 6, and 24 h). The obtained data indicate that the inhibiting effect of actinomycin D on salinity acclimation of P.

It causes an inhibitory effect on disaccharidases, does not affect animal growth, and has no negative effect on food uptake.

The results of the study of the parameters of the immune system in persons suffering from frequent infections, bacteriocarriers and persons with nonspecific infections are presented. The study revealed that T-cell deficiency of the 2nd and 3rd degrees could be regarded as the universal marker of decreased immune reactiveness. Sodium nucleinate was found to be capable of stimulating the T-cell element of immunity and antibody formation, which made it possible to achieve a considerable decrease in morbidity rate.

The conditions for the cleavage of a desired single internucleotide bond have been found for a large molecule with a very complicated secondary and three-dimensional structure.

The analysis proves the high immunogenic activity and protective features of inactivated influenza trivaccines with enhanced contents of hemagglutinins. The article substantiates the reasons for mass application of these vaccines in military units with obligatory addition of B-component and enhanced antigen contents of vaccine viruses in inoculative dose.

The goals of this observation were to estimate the prophylactic efficiency of the selected application of Natrii nucleinas in persons with the lowered immunoresistance on the background of antigrip immunization. A high clinico-epidemiological effectiveness ws approved for 10-days administration of the Natrii nucleinas in persons with clinic manifestations of grip and other respiratory infections at the moment of vaccination.

An urgent operation was performed on 25 patients, the others received intensive nonoperative treatment and were subjected to complex examination aimed primarily at assessing the hepatic function (ultrasonic examination with photometric determination of screen luminescent brightness, intraduodenal contact electrothermometry, plasma biochemical tests). In failure of this treatment 88 patients underwent transhepatic microcholecystomy, one-stage external-internal drainage was carried out in 43 patients.

Based on an analysis of the material of clinical observations of 1523 patients with acute cholecystitis the authors make a conclusion that findings of repeated echosonography with photometry and endoscopic intraduodenal electrothermometry of the duodenal mucosa allow reliable diagnosis of acute cholecystitis, estimation of the character of morphological alterations of the gallbladder wall, determination of the morphofunctional state of the liver. These methods allow to reliably control the course of the inflammatory process in acute cholecystitis and to timely change the curative tactics.

The dynamics of Sonne dysentery morbidity in connection with changes in the structure of S. sonnei circulating among the population of Leningrad for the period of 1959-1984 was studied. Considering such sign as the leading fermentovar, three smaller periods were established in this stretch of time.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe study of the structure and developmental dynamics of S. sonnei populations and the state of local immunity to this infection in children under school age has revealed that the interaction of the heterogeneous populations of the parasite and the host is the internal motive force of the self-regulating phasic development of the epidemic process. In the course of this process complementary changes in the virulence of the infective agent and in the immunoresistance of children are generated on the basis of negative feed-back.
