Introduction: This study aimed to analyze the effects of cannabis oil (cannabidiol:tetrahydrocannabinol [CBD:THC], 2:1 ratio) on the mechanisms involved in hepatic steatosis and oxidative stress in an experimental model of metabolic syndrome (MS) induced by a sucrose-rich diet (SRD). We hypothesized that noninvasive oral cannabis oil administration improves hepatic steatosis through a lower activity of lipogenic enzymes and an increase in carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1) enzyme activity involved in the mitochondrial oxidation of fatty acids. Furthermore, cannabis oil ameliorates liver oxidative stress through the regulation of the main regulatory factors involved, nuclear factor erythroid 2 (NrF2) and nuclear factor-kB (NF-κB) p65.

Male Wistar rats were fed with a reference diet (RD) for 6 months or a SRD for 3 months. Then, the latter group was randomly divided into two subgroups.

Playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) in pianists can lead to the cessation of performance-related activities. A better understanding of the impact of performance parameters on muscle activities could help improve prevention of pianists' PRMDs. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of touch and articulation (two performance parameters) on muscle activity and to compare analysis based on scalar and time-history values.

Our expertise in elastic fibers has led us to discover a process triggered in response to ultraviolet (UV) light and which upsets the balance of elastin fibers: there is too much elastin and insufficient lysyl oxidase (LOXL1) enzyme to form functional elastic fibers. This imbalance then leads to an accumulation of nonfunctional elastin, which forms aggregates.

It remains the most efficient way to downregulate melanin production and improve unsightly pigmentary disorders. The aim of our investigations was to find a structurally characterized molecule with better efficacy than existing molecules without cell toxicity.
