Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of patients participating in a program of integrated care for osteoporosis in terms of medication supply, fracture incidence and expenses.

Methods: Outcomes were assessed from secondary data provided by the AOK PLUS health insurance for 2455 participants of the program and the same number of matched controls who were also diagnosed with osteoporosis but did not participate in the program. Supply with Calcium and Vitamin D, antiresorptive agents and analgesics was assessed by defined daily doses.

Patients with essential hypertension were studied for the reaction of the hypophyseal-adrenal-system before and during insulin hypoglycemia test. We found in our results that the mean total corticoid levels in plasma of hypertensive patients with low or high PRA are significantly higher than control levels. In insulin hypoglycemia test the mean corticoid levels of patients with normal and high PRA do not differ from the mean levels found in normal individuals whereas hypertensive patients with low PRA have significant lower plasma corticoid levels.
