Red blood cell (RBC) alloimmunization can occur because of exposure to various sensitizing factors and poses a constant threat in transfusion. Assisted reproductive technology (ART) involves manipulation of sperm, ova, or embryos with the goal of producing a pregnancy. We present an interesting case of ART-induced maternal alloimmunization (AIMA) due to anti-c in a woman carrying a twin pregnancy.

Detecting oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) in their early stages is crucial to prevent their advancement into OSCC. One of the primary factors contributing to OSCC is tobacco use, which can lead to increased production of cytokines.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: Lipids play an important role in the maintenance of cell integrity. Various tobacco-associated products are known to induce the generation of free radicals and reactive oxygen species, responsible for the high rate of oxidation/peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. These further release peroxide radicals, causing increased utilization of lipids leading to hypolipidemia.

The synthesized g-CN/CuO composites were analyzed and characterized to know the structure, phase, surface area, absorption region, bandgap, and size of the composites. From the observation of TEM and XRD measurements, g-CN/CuO composites have hexagonal shape with average diameter of the particles is 25 ± 5 nm.

The study also aims at observing the stathmin expression with respect to lymph node metastasis.
Materials And Methods: A total of 90 histopathologically confirmed tissue sections were acquired, of which 30 sections of oral dysplasia, 30 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and 30 normal tissue sections were stained immunohistochemically with stathmin.
Background And Objectives: Stathmin is a phosphoprotein, which in its phosphorylated/unphosphorylated states plays a major role in polymerization/depolymerization of microtubules, respectively. Assembly of microtubules is an important aspect of cell division called mitosis. Hinderance in the function of stathmin could lead to damage in the mitotic process resulting in aneuploidy which is common manifestation of malignancies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Stathmin is an intracellular phosphoprotein that controls the microtubule dynamics by further regulating proper attachment and alignment of chromosomes in a dividing cell. Thus, any mutation or aberrantly expressed protein that reduces the fidelity of spindle assembly will enhance chromosomal instability contributing to aneuploidy. Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma is an extensively studied malignancy that occurs due to accumulated genetic changes due to carcinogens.

They usually spread by hematogenous or lymphatic spread, and perineural invasion (PNI) is considered an alternate method of tumor spread where it is described as the tumor affinity toward a neural tissue.
Aim And Objectives: The present study aims to evaluate the biological behavior of OSCC with respect to PNI and to evaluate the importance of PNI with respect to different histopathological grades and variants, tumor stage and lymph node status of OSCC.
Background: Sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction has implications on outcome. For lack of echocardiography in resource-limited settings, myocardial biomarkers may be an alternative monitoring tool.
Objective: This study was planned to explore the longitudinal behavior of creatine phosphokinase-MB (CPK-MB) in children with sepsis with and without shock, and its correlation with clinical and echocardiographic parameters over the first 10 days.
Aim: The present study aims to evaluate the impact strength of PMMA incorporated with TiO nanoparticles by two different processing techniques i.e. water bath and microwave processing techniques.

Background: Inflammation in tumor microenvironment assists in both promotion and growth of tumor. Tumor-associated tissue eosinophilia (TATE) is the term used when eosinophils are observed in a tumor tissue with inflammatory infiltrate. Although carcinogenesis with inflammation is one of the important hallmarks, the exact role of eosinophils remains unclear.

Background: Oral cancer is one of the life threatening disease which requires an availability of a biomarker for its early detection and also for effective treatment strategies. The current study is done to evaluate the efficacy of one such biomarker i.e.

The pleiotropic cytokine, Transforming Growth Factor-β1 (TGF-β1), is considered to be a key candidate gene in the molecular pathogenesis of PE by virtue of its ability to not only regulate angiogenesis and apoptosis of target cells, but also by acting as a master controller of Th1/Th2 cytokine balance and production of the anti-inflammatory peripheral regulatory T cells (FOXP3+ Tregs). Based on this presumption, we screened a total of 469 pregnant women from South India that include 239 patients with PE and 230 healthy controls for the two functional polymorphisms of TGFB1 gene (C-509T and T869C).

Defective placentation during early stages of pregnancy in combination with maternal and environmental factors could lead to systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction and the manifestation of the clinical symptoms. HLA-G is considered essential for feto-maternal immune tolerance and successful placentation in pregnancy.
