Comparative evaluation between ranibizumab combined with laser and bevacizumab combined with laser versus laser alone for macular oedema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion.

Purpose: To evaluate the anatomical and functional efficacy of combination therapy of intravitreal ranibizumab with laser or intravitreal bevacizumab with laser treatment compared to only laser treatment for macular edema due to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO).

Materials And Methods: Thirty eyes of 30 patients with BRVO of at least 6 weeks duration were randomized into three groups: Group 1 received a single dose of intravitreal Ranibizumab followed by grid laser treatment, Group 2 received a single dose of intravitreal Bevacizumab followed by grid laser treatment, and Group 3 received grid laser alone. Outcomes at 6 months follow-up were reported.

Clinical profile of uveitis-related ocular hypertension.

The purpose of this article is to study the clinical and demographic profile of uveitis-related ocular hypertension (OHT) and evaluate risk factors predisposing to development of OHT in uveitis. Two hundred patients (200 eyes) with uveitis were evaluated for type of uveitis and the presence of OHT [IOP > 21 mmHg]. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination and appropriate systemic evaluation.

Lens status as the single most important factor in endothelium protection after vitreous surgery: a prospective study.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of vitreous surgery on the corneal endothelium.

Methods: A total of 113 eyes undergoing pars plana vitrectomy for variable indications at a tertiary care center were included prospectively. The mean age was 41 years (range, 9-84 years), and 60% were male.

Spontaneous posterior capsular rupture with lens dislocation in pseudoexfoliation syndrome.

Spontaneous posterior capsule rupture is a very rare entity and its association with lens-nucleus dislocation even more. Herein we report such a case of spontaneous posterior capsule rupture with lens dislocation in a case of Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome.

Retcam fluorescein gonioangiography: a new modality for early detection of angle neovascularization in diabetic retinopathy.

Purpose: To evaluate the role of Retcam fluorescein gonioangiography in detecting neovascularization of the angle and correlate the same with gonioscopy in diabetic retinopathy.

Methods: One hundred and fifty eyes of 150 patients (25 each of mild, moderate, severe, very severe nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR); and PDR with high-risk characteristics) were recruited. They underwent complete ocular examination including applanation tonometry, gonioscopy, Retcam fluorescein gonioangiography, and fundus fluorescein angiography.

Comparison of topical anesthesia and peribulbar anesthesia for 23-gauge vitrectomy without sedation.

Purpose: To compare the safety and efficacy of topical anesthesia versus peribulbar anesthesia for 23-gauge vitrectomy without sedation.

Methods: Selected group of 60 patients with vitreous hemorrhage were divided into 2 groups and underwent 23-gauge vitrectomy. Group 1 used topical anesthesia, whereas Group 2 used peribulbar anesthesia.

Comparison of intravitreal bevacizumab, intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide, and macular grid augmentation in refractory diffuse diabetic macular edema: A prospective, randomized study.

Background: In spite of laser being the gold standard treatment for Diabetic Macular edema (DME), some patients do not respond to laser. Various treatment modalities are being tried in the management of refractory diffuse DME (DDME).

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB), intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA), and macular grid augmentation in the management of refractory DDME.
