Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a decisive risk factor for severe illness in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). India is home to a large number of people with DM, and many of them were infected with COVID-19. It is critical to understand the impact of DM on mortality and other clinical outcomes of COVID-19 infection from this region.

We report a 34 year old man who developed bilateral ptosis and predominantly respiratory, truncal and bulbar weakness, and a high titer of anti acetylcholine receptor antibodies along with a diagnosis of Philadelphia chromosome positive Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The temporal relationship suggests a possible association.

Gastrothorax is characterized by herniation of the stomach and other abdominal contents into the thoracic cavity either through the oesophageal hiatus or ruptured diaphragm. When gastrothorax causes pulmonary and hemodynamic compromise, due to compression of lungs and mediastinal structures, it is named as tension gastrothorax. Diagnosis of tension gastrothorax is often complicated during late pregnancy, because of unusual presentation, altered physiology, absence of trauma, hesitation about radiation exposure, and rarity of the condition.
