One of the uncommon urogenital malformations in males, which presents late in the second or third decades of life, is the congenital malformation of the seminal vesicle. Zinner syndrome is a rare condition comprising a triad of unilateral renal agenesis, ipsilateral seminal vesicle obstruction, and ipsilateral ejaculatory duct obstruction. Very few cases in the literature describe the malignant change in seminal vesicle cyst in Zinner syndrome.

Objectives: Psoriasis is a chronic infectious skin disease triggered by an autoimmune process involving T-cell-mediated hyper-proliferation of keratinocytes. The objective of this study is to assess the modulation of programmed death 1 (PD-1) and its ligand programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) through JAK/STAT pathway during the development of a psoriasis-like disease by both in vitro and in vivo model. Baricitinib, a known inhibitor of JAK1 and JAK2, was used to study the impact on PD-1 and PD-L1.

Hepatic steatosis is a metabolic disease, characterized by selective and progressive accumulation of lipids in liver, leading to progressive non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and cirrhosis. The existing models of hepatic steatosis to elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind the onset of hepatic steatosis and to profile small molecule modulators uses lipid loaded primary hepatocytes, and cell lines like HepG2. The limitation of these models includes high variability between the different donor samples, reproducibility, and translatability to physiological context.

Species of the genus have been used in traditional Chinese medicine, with the medicinal herb "Manshanfong" used as an expectorant and for the treatment of acute bronchitis. Daurichromenic acid (DCA), a constituent of , is a meroterpenoid with antibacterial, anti-HIV, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, the mechanisms underlying these pharmacologic activities are poorly understood.

Protein aggregation is the principal component of numerous protein misfolding pathologies termed proteinopathies, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, prion disease, and AA amyloidosis with unmet treatment needs. Protein aggregation inhibitors have great potential for the prevention and treatment of proteinopathies. Here we report the development of an automated real-time microliter-scale high throughput screening (MSHTS) system for amyloid aggregation inhibitors using quantum-dot nanoprobes.

Blepharochalasis is a rare degenerative disease of skin of lids. We report 3 cases of blepharochalasis, out of which two involved upper eyelids and one involved lower eyelids. All the three cases were treated with transcutaneous blepharoplasty with acceptable cosmetic results.

Objective: To evaluate the inhibitory property of de-glycyrrhizinated extract of Glycyrrhiza glabra root and its phytoconstituents (glabridin, isoliquiritigenin and glycyrrhizin) on LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory mediators.

Materials And Methods: Inhibitory effect of G. glabra extract and its phytoconstituents were studied on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in J774A.

The aim of the current study is to probe the anti-inflammatory/anti-allergic potential of seven phytoconstituents (andrographolide, neoandrographolide, isoandrographolide, andrograpanin, 14-deoxy-11,12-didehydroandrographolide, 7-O-methylwogonin and skullcapflavone-I) isolated from Andrographis paniculata (King of bitters) on the production of key inflammatory/allergic mediators (NO, PGE(2), IL-1 beta, IL-6, LTB(4), TXB(2) and histamine). The results demonstrated that andrographolide, isoandrographolide, 7-O-methylwogonin and skullcapflavone-I significantly inhibited LPS stimulated NO and PGE(2) release in J774A.1 macrophages.

Glycyrrhiza glabra and its phytoconstituents have been known to possess widespread pharmacological properties as an anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, antitumour and hepatoprotective drug. In this study, we examined the inhibitory potential of extract of G. glabra (GutGard™) root and its phytoconstituents (glabridin, glycyrrhizin, and isoliquiritigenin) on both cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX) products in order to understand the mechanism of its anti-inflammatory action.

We report a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study of confined water inside approximately 1.4 nm diameter single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). We show that the confined water does not freeze even up to 223 K.

NMR spectra of molecules oriented in the liquid crystalline media provide information on the molecular structure and order parameter. However, the numerical iterative analysis of the proton spectra of strongly coupled spins is difficult and time consuming. Such analysis is simplified if nearly accurate starting parameters are available.

NMR spectra of molecules oriented in liquid crystals provide homo- and heteronuclear dipolar couplings and thereby the geometry of the molecules. Several inequivalent dilute spins such as 13C and 15N coupled to protons form different coupled spin systems in their natural abundance and appear as satellites in the proton spectra. Identification of transitions belonging to each spin system is essential to determine heteronuclear dipolar couplings, which is a formidable task.
