Characterization of Antioxidant Bioactive Compounds and Rheological, Color and Sensory Properties in 3D-Printed Fruit Snacks.

The influence of wheat starch (6%, 8% and 10%, /) and a 3D printing program (program 1 vs. program 2) on the content of bioactive compounds, antioxidant capacity, color parameters and rheological and sensory properties was investigated in 3D strawberry and strawberry tree fruit snacks. Increasing the starch content led to a decrease in the content of almost all the bioactive compounds, while it had no effect on the antioxidant capacity.

The Modulation Effect of a Fermented Bee Pollen Postbiotic on Cardiovascular Microbiota and Therapeutic Perspectives.

Hypertension is a frequent comorbidity in patients with heart failure; therefore, blood pressure management for these patients is widely recommended in medical guidelines. Bee pollen and postbiotics that contain inactivated probiotic cells and their metabolites have emerged as promising bioactive compounds sources, and their potential role in mitigating cardiovascular (CV) risks is currently being unveiled. Therefore, this preliminary study aimed to investigate the impact of a lactic-fermented bee pollen postbiotic (FBPP) on the CV microbiota via in vitro tests.

Mathematical Modeling and Software Tools for Breeding Value Estimation Based on Phenotypic, Pedigree and Genomic Information of Holstein Friesian Cattle in Serbia.

In this paper, six univariate and two multivariate best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) models were tested for the estimation of breeding values (BV) in Holstein Friesian cattle in Serbia. Two univariate models were formed using the numerator relationship matrix (NRM), four using the genomic relationship matrix (GRM). Multivariate models contained only an NRM.

Upregulation of Tolerogenic Pathways by the Hydrogen Sulfide Donor GYY4137 and Impaired Expression of HS-Producing Enzymes in Multiple Sclerosis.

The aim of this study was to examine the in vitro effects of the slow-releasing HS donor GYY4137 on the immune cells involved in the pathogenesis of the central nervous system (CNS) autoimmune disease, multiple sclerosis (MS). GYY4137 specifically potentiated TGF-β expression and production in dendritic cells and significantly reduced IFN-γ and IL-17 production in the lymph node and spinal cord T cells obtained from mice immunized with CNS antigens. Both the proportion of FoxP3 regulatory CD4 T cells in the lymph node cells, and the percentage of IL-17 CD4 T cells in the spinal cord cells were reduced upon culturing with GYY4137.

Isolation and enrichment of mouse insulin-specific CD4 T regulatory cells.

Polyclonal T regulatory cells (Treg - CD4CD25CD127Foxp3) are used in several protocols for the treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D), multiple sclerosis and graft-versus host disease in clinical trials. However, general opinion is that autoantigen-specific Treg could be more efficient in autoimmunity suppression due to their direct effect on pathogenic autoantigen-specific effector T cells. This study describes isolation and expansion of insulin-specific Treg in vitro.

Gut Microbiota Confers Resistance of Albino Oxford Rats to the Induction of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis.

Albino Oxford (AO) rats are extremely resistant to induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). EAE is an animal model of multiple sclerosis, a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS), with established autoimmune pathogenesis. The autoimmune response against the antigens of the CNS is initiated in the peripheral lymphoid tissues after immunization of AO rats with CNS antigens.

The policy dialog on human resource in health care is one of the central issues of the ongoing health care system reform in the Republic of Serbia. Pharmacists are the third largest health care professional group, after nurses and doctors. This study's objective was to analyze population coverage with pharmacists employed in the public sector of health care system of Serbia during 1961 - 2007, and to project their density by 2017.

Hematological toxicity associated with tiazofurin-influence on erythropoiesis.

In this study hematological toxicity was analyzed after the single and repeated applications of tiazofurin (TZF). Cellularity of bone marrow, spleen and peripheral blood was examined, spanning the period of fifty days after the initial application. Analysis of hematological parameters was performed by slightly modified conventional techniques.

DNA profiling of B chromosomes from the yellow-necked mouse Apodemus flavicollis (Rodentia, Mammalia).

Using AP-PCR-based DNA profiling we examined some structural features of B chromosomes from yellow-necked mice Apodemus flavicollis. Mice harboring one, two, or three or lacking B chromosomes were examined. Chromosomal structure was scanned for variant bands by using a series of arbitrary primers and from these, informative bands were selected.

High incidence of H-ras oncogene mutations in squamous cell carcinoma of lip vermilion.

Nine specimens of well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the lip vermilion have been analyzed for the presence of H-ras oncogene mutations, using the technique of hybridization with synthetic oligonucleotide probes on in vitro amplified tumour DNA. Five specimens harbored mutations: four in codon 12 and one in codon 13. This high incidence (55%) of mutated H-ras genes suggests that their activation may play an important role in lip tumour development and may be connected to the exposure to chemical and/or physical carcinogens.

H-ras gene mutations in salivary gland pleomorphic adenomas.

The DNA from 17 specimens of pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands was screened for the presence of ras gene mutations, which are known to be involved in the pathogenesis of various human neoplasias. By a sensitive method of hybridization with synthetic oligonucleotide probes on in vitro amplified tumor DNA, point mutations, mainly in codon 12 of the H-ras gene, were detected in six tumor specimens (35%). This high incidence of mutated ras genes suggests that their alteration may play a role in the pathogenesis of pleomorphic adenomas.
