Long-term results of the Delta Xtend reverse shoulder prosthesis.

Background: Reverse shoulder arthroplasty has become the standard treatment for cuff tear arthropathy and complex fractures of the proximal humerus. The Delta Xtend prosthesis (DePuy Synthes, Warsaw, IN, USA) was launched in 2006 and has shown good short-term results. Longer-term results are not yet available.

Heterotopic ossification after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.

Aims: Heterotopic ossification (HO) occurs after arthroplasty, especially total hip arthroplasty. In this study we describe the incidence, evolution, morphology and clinical consequences of HO following reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Patients And Methods: This is a single-centre retrospective study of 132 consecutive patients who received a Delta III or Delta Xtend reverse total shoulder arthroplasty between 2006 and 2013 for the treatment of cuff tear arthropathy.

A systematic survey of the HLA B27 prevalence in inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

HLA B27 has been tested systematically in 246 patients attending a rheumatology clinic for chronic inflammatory arthritis or spondylitis. Patients were allocated to nine groups: typical ankylosing spondylitis, ankylosing spondylitis with moderate involvement without peripheral arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis with moderate involvement and with peripheral arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, Reiter's syndrome, Yersinia arthritis, arthropathies of inflammatory bowel disease, psoriatic arthritis, seronegative and seropositive rheumatoid arthritis. Except for seropositive rheumatoid arthritis, a significant association with HLA B27 antigen was found in all groups.
