Putting words into practice.

Many ABC/MBC (advanced or metastatic breast cancer) patients describe feelings of isolation and lack of support [1], often exacerbated by inadequate and insensitive communication. To examine these issues and the changing landscape of the wider breast cancer (BC) community, eight BC patients from across Europe took part in an advisory board. Each patient generously gave up their time to discuss how communication could be enhanced; driven by a desire to improve the experience and bolster support for future ABC/MBC patients.

Transforming Breast Cancer Together: European elections manifesto 2019 seizing the opportunities for breast cancer patients.

With the European Parliament elections having taken place in May 2019 and a new European Commission (EC) taking office in November 2019, this year is critical for European policymakers, as goals and priorities of the European Union (EU) for the next five years will be discussed and agreed upon. This Manifesto issued by the Transforming Breast Cancer Together initiative calls upon policymakers to improve services for patients in an area still of high unmet need and reduce the societal impact of breast cancer by elevating it as a health policy priority to improve breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and care across Europe.

Association between [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose uptake and postoperative histopathology, hormone receptor status, thymidine labelling index and p53 in primary breast cancer: a preliminary observation.

To investigate the possible role of positron emission tomography (PET) with fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) in the prognostic evaluation of primary breast cancer, we studied 86 patients with T1-3 (TNM classification) breast tumours before surgery and compared the tumour FDG uptake, calculated as a standardized uptake value (SUV), with postoperative histopathological findings, steroid hormone receptor status of the tumour, thymidine labelling index (LI) and tissular expression of p53. A simple and semi-automated system for increasing the recovery of aqueous [18F] fluoride from target.

A simple semi-automated apparatus is described for rinsing the transport line from the [18F] fluoride. target to the hot-cell after recovery of aqueous [18F] fluoride. The additional activity thus recovered can then be added to that previously trapped on Dowex 1X8 (CO3=) or, alternatively, diverted to a second vial for other uses such as research, PET-camera calibration or bone investigations by PET.
