Purpose: Previous research points to a complex relation between social media use and mental health, with open questions remaining with respect to mediation pathways and potential sociodemographic moderators. The present research investigated the extent to which experiences of cyberbullying victimization mediate the link between greater social media use and poorer mental health in adults and whether such indirect effects are moderated by gender or age.
Participants And Methods: As part of a larger study, US adults ( = 502) completed an online survey that included measures of degree of social media use, cyberbullying victimization, depression, anxiety, substance use, and sociodemographic characteristics including gender and age.
Background: Modern literature has brought into question if wear of tibial inserts made from conventional or highly crosslinked polyethylene (HXL PE) is still a factor limiting longevity of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in the mid- to long-term. A trauma-informed care (TIC) approach to these encounters is critical, as many of the characteristics associated with challenging patient encounters can be linked to a history of trauma exposure.
Methods: Our team created and delivered a 1-hour synchronous virtual session intended to bolster provider knowledge of TIC principles and their application to challenging adolescent encounters.
Background: There is evidence for a significant excess of kinetic upper limb tremor in non-FXTAS female FMR1 premutation carriers. The present study explores the possibility that this tremor is associated with various other features reminiscent of those occurring in syndromic FXTAS.

Methods: In 2019, participants self-identifying as researchers, preregistered for the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting, ≥7 years out of residency, and authors of ≥1 AAN meeting abstract submission (2006-2009) were selected to participate in the qualitative study (purposeful sampling strategy). To increase diversity, 15 participants were invited by members involved in the AAN until interviews were complete.
The use of highly crosslinked ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (XLPE) has significantly reduced the volumetric wear of acetabular liners, thereby reducing the incidence of osteolysis. Dual-tasking (DT) cognitive-motor paradigms and challenging balance conditions may have the capacity to reveal markers of FXTAS onset. Our objectives were to determine the impact of dual-tasking and sensory and stance manipulation on balance in FXTAS and potentially detect subtle postural sway deficits in PMCs who are asymptomatic for signs of FXTAS on clinical exam.

Objective: Mutations in the glucocerebrosidase (GBA1) gene and subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) are independently associated with cognitive dysfunction in persons with Parkinson's disease (PwP). We hypothesized that PwP with both GBA1 mutations and STN-DBS are at greater risk of cognitive dysfunction than PwP with only GBA1 mutations or STN-DBS, or neither. The premutation of the fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein 1 () gene is characterized by an expansion of the CGG trinucleotide repeats (55 to 200 CGGs) in the 5' untranslated region and increased levels of mRNA. Molecular mechanisms leading to fragile X-premutation-associated conditions (FXPAC) include cotranscriptional R-loop formations, mRNA toxicity through both RNA gelation into nuclear foci and sequestration of various CGG-repeat-binding proteins, and the repeat-associated non-AUG (RAN)-initiated translation of potentially toxic proteins. Such molecular mechanisms contribute to subsequent consequences, including mitochondrial dysfunction and neuronal death.
