Background: Utilizing skills identified in previous research on successful role transition, this study evaluated the relationship between a strategically designed practicum course and the readiness for role transition to family nurse practitioner (FNP) in graduate nursing students.
Methods: A mixed methods approach evaluated pre- and post-participation survey data for the FNP role preparedness in graduate nursing students in a strategically designed practicum course. The survey addressed 22 skills associated with readiness for role transition and had three open-ended questions to collect narrative student perceptions.
Background: Breastfeeding is the gold standard nutrition for infants, and more than three-fourths of US mother-infant couplets initiate breastfeeding at birth. However, breastfeeding rates plummet after hospital discharge, when mother-infant couplets enter primary care. This quality improvement project examined the effect of a primary care intervention on breastfeeding rates from the newborn visit through the 4-month visit.

Of the women currently pregnant, over 70% will initially choose to breastfeed. The needs of a breastfeeding surgical patient are unique and are best met by a supportive surgical team using evidenced-based practice.
