Background: Malaria is a potentially severe disease affecting nearly 200 million people per year. Early detection of the parasite even in unsuspected patients remains the challenging aim for effective patient care. We therefore carried out a prospective study, in 350 patients, of eight commercial thromboplastins (CTs) in their ability to detect mild clotting factor deficiencies, notably in factor VII.
