Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to detect changes in the cervical spinal cord of ALS patients, revealing lower fractional anisotropy and higher radial diffusivity compared to healthy controls.
  • There was a significant correlation between these findings and clinical measures of disease severity, such as finger and foot tapping speed and forced vital capacity.
  • The DTI analysis highlighted more pronounced differences in ALS patients at the distal segments of the cervical spinal cord, suggesting a potential method for monitoring neurodegeneration in ALS.
