Serum IL-6 as a Surrogate Biomarker of Post-operative Complications in Invasive Orthopaedic Surgeries: A Prospective Observational Study.

Survival of patients with cervical cancer in India - findings from 11 population based cancer registries under National Cancer Registry Programme.

Background: Cancer survival data from Population Based Cancer Registries (PBCR) reflect the average outcome of patients in the population, which is critical for cancer control efforts. Despite decreasing incidence rates, cervical cancer is the second most common female cancer in India, accounting for 10% of all female cancers. The objective of the study is to estimate the five-year survival of patients with cervical cancer diagnosed between 2012 and 2015 from the PBCRs in India.

The current study was aimed for the generation of Pleurotus extracellular extract-mediated selenium and zinc-oxide nanoparticles (NPs). Characterization and apportionment of carbonaceous aerosol emission factors from light-duty and heavy-duty vehicle fleets in Maharashtra, India.

This study aims to investigate the characteristics of carbonaceous aerosols and estimate emission factor (EF) based on roadway tunnel measurements, from two distinct vehicular fleets: an all light-duty vehicle (LDV) fleet, and a mixed fleet of 80% LDV and 20% heavy-duty vehicle (HDV). Background: Population-based cancer survival is a key indicator for assessing the effectiveness of cancer control by a health care system in a specific geographic area. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India, accounting for over one quarter of all female cancers. The objective of this study was to estimate the 5-year survival of female patients who were diagnosed with breast cancer between 2012 and 2015 from the existing Population-Based Cancer Registries (PBCRs) in India.

Short-term neurological and functional outcome of surgical intervention in spinal cord injuries: a single center prospective observational study.

Introduction: the management of an acute spinal cord injury remains controversial. The patient of acute spinal cord injury undergoes several phases of care beginning with the initial trauma management, surgical intervention, and perioperative medical management. The aim of this study was to evaluate the neurological and functional outcome of operative management of traumatic spinal cord injury patients admitted to a tertiary care centre in Northeast India.

Effect of glyphosate-based herbicide roundup on hemato-biochemistry of Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822) and susceptibility to Aeromonas hydrophila infection.

In the present study, comprehensive research was executed to investigate the salient toxic effects of glyphosate herbicide in static water system by evaluating the haemato-biochemical profiles of Labio rohita. A challenge study against Aeromonas hydrophila was conducted to determine disease susceptibility of the fish, treated to varying concentrations of commercial-grade glyphosate herbicide. A static range finding bioassay and definitive test revealed that the 96-h LC value of glyphosate was 10.

Diverse uses of valuable seafood processing industry waste for sustainability: a review.

Seafoods are rich in untapped bioactive compounds that have the potential to provide novel ingredients for the development of commercial functional foods and pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, a large portion of waste or discards is generated in commercial processing setups (50-80%), which is wasted or underutilized. These by-products are a rich source of novel and valuable biomolecules, including bioactive peptides, collagen and gelatin, oligosaccharides, fatty acids, enzymes, calcium, water-soluble minerals, vitamins, carotenoids, chitin, chitosan and biopolymers.

Recovery from White cord Syndrome after Anterior Cervical Corpectomy and Fusion: A Case Report.

Introduction: A new neurologic deficit after spine surgery is always the biggest surgeon's nightmare. Worsening of neurology post-operatively in the absence of obvious per operative injury and with no extrinsic cause, the deficit is attributable to be caused by reperfusion injury of the spinal cord called as white cord syndrome (WCS). Hereby, we report 1-year follow-up of a case attributed as WCS after anterior cervical corpectomy with complete recovery.

COVID-19 Pandemic and Challenges Faced by Healthcare Professionals in India.

Since the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918, a pandemic of such magnitude as the COVID-19 pandemic was yet to be confronted. While the pandemic led to unforeseen challenges globally as well as at the country level, it also brought forth certain perennial issues. Blue agave inulin-soluble dietary fiber: effect on technological quality properties of pangasius mince emulsion-type sausage.

Background: The aim of the work was to investigate the influence of supplementing pangasius mince-based emulsion sausages with blue agave-derived inulin at 1% (T1), 2% (T2), 3% (T3), 4% (T4), and 5% (T5) on its technological quality attributes and acceptability.

Results: The cooking yield of T-2, T-3, and T-4 sausages (96-97%) exhibited no significant difference (P > 0.05), which was higher than the other lots.

Reutilization of ferro-arsenic waste sludge for the development of concrete blocks through solidification: conservation of natural aggregates with policy suggestion.

 In the present study, arsenic sludge and iron sludge extracted from a laboratory scale water treatment plant were aimed to reutilize for the development of concrete blocks. Three different grades (M15, M20 and M25) of concrete blocks were made by blending of arsenic sludge and improved iron sludge (50% sand and 40% iron sludge) in the range of density of 425 to 535 kg/m3 at an optimum ratio of 10:90 (arsenic: iron sludge) followed by mixing of designed quantity cement, coarse aggregates, water and additives.
