Assessment of morbidity profile among workers of metallurgy factories processing aluminium in Howrah district of West Bengal.

Introduction: Workers who work in metallurgy factories processing aluminium are at risk of exposure to various kinds of metals and chemicals.

Objective: To describe sociodemographic characteristics and to find out morbidity profile of study participants .

Methods: A cross-sectional O bservational descriptive study was conducted in two aluminium processing metallurgy factories in Howrah district of Indian state of West Bengal.

Malaria prevalence has become medically important and a socioeconomic impediment for the endemic regions, including Purulia, West Bengal. Geo-environmental variables, humidity, altitude, and land use patterns are responsible for malaria. For surveillance of the endemic nature of Purulia's blocks, statistical and spatiotemporal factors analysis have been done here.

Giant Dielectric Constant of Copper Nanowires/Amorphous SiO Composite Thin Films for Supercapacitor Application.

Transparent thin films comprising ultralong (within the range 52-387 μm) copper nanowires with diameter ∼7-9 nm encapsulated in amorphous silica have been successfully fabricated using an electrodeposition technique. The length and number density were controlled by electrodeposition time and concentration of precursor materials, respectively. Giant dielectric constant values (∼10) obtained from these systems were quantitatively explained as a function of the length of the nanowires on the basis of quantum mechanical theory derived by Rice and Bernasconi.

Effect of age on presentation with diabetes: Comparison of nondiabetic patients with new smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been reported to modify the presenting features of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), but data regarding the effect of diabetes on the presentation of PTB are highly variable.

Objective: To determine whether DM alters the demographic, clinical, and radiological manifestations of tuberculosis and whether the effect of diabetes varies with the age group of PTB patients.

Materials And Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted on new smear-positive PTB patients with DM (PTB-DM group) and non-diabetic PTB patients (PTB group).
