Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess blood pressure in Indian children aged 5 to 12 from different altitudes, comparing those near sea level to those living at higher elevations in the Himalayas.
  • Using trained doctors, blood pressure was measured in 1,229 children, revealing a significant increase in both systolic and diastolic readings as altitude increased.
  • The findings suggest that blood pressure readings in children vary with altitude, providing important information for better interpretation of these readings in high-altitude populations.
