Background: The agonist-antagonist myoneural interface (AMI) technique at the time of transtibial amputation involves the use of agonist-antagonist muscle pairs to restore natural contraction-stretch relationships and to improve proprioceptive feedback when utilizing a prosthetic limb.
Description: Utilizing the standard incision for a long posterior myofasciocutaneous flap, the lateral and medial aspects of the limb are dissected, identifying and preserving the superficial peroneal and saphenous nerve, respectively. The tendons of the tibialis anterior and peroneus longus are transected distally to allow adequate length for the AMI constructs.
Purpose: This investigation describes the outcomes of pediatric ganglion cysts in a prospective cohort that elected not to undergo cyst aspiration or surgical treatment. Our primary aim was to investigate the rate of spontaneous resolution over time among the subset of patients who did not undergo specific treatments.
Methods: Children (aged ≤18 years) who presented to the clinic with ganglion cysts of the hand or wrist were enrolled in a prospective two-center registry between 2017 and 2021.

Objective: To study the safety and feasibility of virtual consultations in reproductive medicine.
Design: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study involving subfertile patients attending a video consultation between September 2021 and August 2022. Clinicians conducting virtual consultations during the same period responded to a parallel survey for healthcare professionals.
Three new (+)-sparteine-like diamines were prepared from (-)-cytisine and evaluated as sparteine surrogates in the alpha-lithiation rearrangement of cyclooctene oxide and the palladium(II)/diamine catalyzed oxidative kinetic resolution of 1-indanol. The new diamines exhibited opposite enantioselectivity to that observed with (-)-sparteine but increasing the steric hindrance of the N-alkyl group beyond N-Et had a detrimental effect on enantioselectivity. The optimal N-Me diamine was evaluated with much success in five other (-)-sparteine-mediated processes involving different metals (lithium, magnesium, and copper) and different types of reaction mechanisms.

Methods: A three-page questionnaire comprising 60 items of information has been compiled by 67 centres in 12 European countries. Information was collected prospectively regarding all severe and moderate head injuries in adults (> 16 years) admitted to neurosurgery within 24 h of injury.
Diagnostic and monitoring procedures for patients with head injury are aimed at early detection of mass lesions and secondary insults. Our therapeutic approach is based on our understanding of pathophysiologic mechanisms that cause secondary brain damage, and includes evacuation of mass lesions and prevention of secondary insults. Basic research has greatly increased our knowledge of these pathophysiologic mechanisms and has prompted the development of many neuroprotective agents, targeted to selected mechanisms.

With the proliferation of CT scanners in general hospitals, and with improvements in patient transport, the interval from injury to the first CT scan is decreasing. Guidelines for the management of severe head injury in adults as evolved by the European Brain Injury Consortium are presented and discussed.
