Shortening the dry period has a negative effect on milk production of the following lactation. One possible explanation is that a period of low prolactin (PRL) concentration is necessary to restore mammary gland milk production capacity. England's 10 national parks are renowned for their landscapes, wildlife, and recreational value. However, surface waters in the national parks may be vulnerable to pollution from human-use chemicals, such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), because of factors like ineffective wastewater treatment, seasonal tourism, a high proportion of elderly residents, and the presence of low-flow water bodies that limit dilution. The present study determined the extent of API contamination in the English national parks by monitoring 54 APIs in 37 rivers across all national parks over two seasons.

Although studies on fish cognition are increasing, consideration of how methodological details influence the ability to detect and measure performance is lagging. Here, in two separate experiments the authors compared latency to leave the start position, latency to make a decision, levels of participation and success rates (whether fish entered the rewarded chamber as first choice) across different physical designs. Background: Hematological malignancies are an infrequent but important cause of liver dysfunction. There are several mechanisms by which this can occur, including direct malignant infiltration of the hepatic parenchyma and/or vasculature, vanishing bile duct syndrome, and paraneoplastic hepatitis. Paraneoplastic hepatitis is an extremely rare mechanism by which a hematological malignancy can cause liver dysfunction, and we present the first case, to our knowledge, of paraneoplastic hepatitis caused by nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma in the literature.

The influential Victorian appellate judgment of R v Verdins [2007] VSCA 102 provided a sentencing framework for "impaired mental functioning" not only in Victoria but in other Australian jurisdictions. Following the judgment of Director of Public Prosecutions (Vic) v O'Neill (2015) 47 VR 395; [2015] VSCA 325, it appeared that personality disorders were not considered within the scope of the Verdins principles.
