Purpose: We examined the relation between early life infections and adult obesity.
Methods: A cohort of Danish males who underwent mandatory army fitness examinations was studied. Hospitalizations for childhood infections and their mothers' hospitalization for infection during pregnancy were identified via the Danish National Registry of Patients.

Flushing totally implantable venous access devices (TIVADs) with manually filled saline syringes may increase contamination and catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI). We used a retrospective cohort study to assess the impact of changing from manually filled syringes to manufactured pre-filled syringes on the frequency of CRBSI in 718 TIVADs. Manually filled syringes were used in 269 patients and pre-filled syringes in 449.

As experimental treatment strategies for MI approach translation, safety and efficacy must be established in relevant animal models that mimic the clinical situation. We have developed an injectable hydrogel derived from porcine myocardial extracellular matrix as a scaffold for cardiac repair after MI.

Of the 65 respondents, 45% reported electronically importing at least a portion of their data. Facilities that reported using electronic import spent fewer hours per week on data collection and entry than those performing manual data entry.

Although this approach has been in place for years, several lines of evidence, including poor prognostic impact, suggest that this direct relationship may present an oversimplified view of IHD. Indeed, a large number of studies have found that IHD can occur in the presence or absence of obstructive coronary artery disease and that atherosclerosis is just 1 element in a complex multifactorial pathophysiological process that includes inflammation, microvascular coronary dysfunction, endothelial dysfunction, thrombosis, and angiogenesis.
