This article covers current methods and applications in chiral analysis from 2010 to 2020 for biosamples in clinical research and forensic toxicology. Sample preparation for aqueous and solid biological samples prior to instrumental analysis were discussed in the article. GC, HPLC, capillary electrophoresis and sub/supercritical fluid chromatography provide the efficient tools for chiral drug analysis coupled to fluorescence, UV and MS detectors.

This study was designed to investigate the possible synergism of amlodipine and candesartan on the reduction of blood pressure (BP) in hypertensive rats. The end organ protection was also observed. In acute experiment, spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) were treated with intragastric administration of amlodipine (0.

Stroke is a leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. There is growing evidence that metformin (Met) has potent neuroprotective effects; however, its mechanisms remain unclear. We examined the role of the arterial baroreflex and cholinergic-α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) anti-inflammory pathway in the beneficial effects of Met against stroke.

Article Synopsis
  • * The researchers used PCR-based microarrays and found that increasing TUT1 levels inhibits cell growth in osteosarcoma cell lines, while decreasing TUT1 promotes cell growth.
  • * TUT1 possibly functions as a tumor suppressor by regulating lipogenesis-related genes through specific microRNAs, indicating its potential role in cancer development.

The pharmacokinetic parameters of two oral formulations of a 1 g dose of secnidazole (CAS 3366-95-8, secnidazole tablet as reference and another capsule preparation as test) were compared in an open-label, randomized, single oral dose, two-period cross-over design in 18 healthy volunteers under fasting conditions. Plasma concentrations of secnidazole were measured by a validated HPLC chromatographic assay. The parametric 90% confidence intervals of the geometric mean values of the test/reference ratios were 91.
