Article Synopsis
  • The study developed a new reverse genetics system for bovine rotaviruses (BRVs) that had previously posed challenges in research due to a lack of suitable methods.
  • This optimized system successfully produced genetically modified reporter viruses that can be used to study BRV replication and stability, revealing insights about their genomic characteristics and fitness.
  • Additionally, the research identified potential antiviral compounds, demonstrating the system's utility for discovering new treatments and vaccines for BRV.

We examined the effects of phosphorus (P) levels on photosynthetic and P/Fe traits of soybean under the stress of low Fe and their genotypic differences, to provide a theoretical basis for rational application of P and Fe fertilizer. Six P-efficient and six P-inefficient soybean varieties screened in the early stage were used as experimental materials. Four treatments of P:Fe ratio were set, including 0:30, 30:30, 150:30 and 300:30 (μmol·L).

Following targeted gene virotherapy, the suppression of tumorigenicity 13 (ST13) gene was inserted into the double-regulated oncolytic adenovirus SG500 to ensure more safety and potent antitumor activity against colorectal cancer in vitro and in vivo. We generated the ST13-expressing oncolytic adenovirus SG500-ST13, with which colorectal carcinoma cell lines SW620 and HCT116, and the lung fibroblast cell line WI38, were infected. Crystal violet staining was carried out to detect the cytopathic effect in cells, and the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide method was used to assay cell viability.
