Serving as neuromorphic hardware accelerators, memristors play a crucial role in large-scale neuromorphic computing. Herein, two-terminal memristors utilizing amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide (a-IGZO) are fabricated through room-temperature sputtering. The electrical characteristics of these memristors are effectively modulated by varying the oxygen flow during the deposition process.

Gouty tophi is a disease characterized by the long-term deposition of monosodium urate crystals in joints or cartilages. The most commonly affected site is the first metatarsophalangeal joint, and gouty tophi in the head and neck region are relatively rare. This article reports a case involving an elderly male with asymptomatic gouty tophi in the thyroid cartilage.

Although modern radiotherapy offers excellent local control in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), current therapeutic decisions remain burdensome due to the frequency of local recurrence and treatment failure at distant sites. One potential and promising strategy for the prevention or treatment of cancers is the use of bioactive components of plant origin, including dietary plant products. Herein, we studied one class of these bioactive compounds, grape seed proanthocyanidins (GSPs), and explored their effect on NPC CNE-2 cells, as well as the primary mechanism underlying this effect.

Imidacloprid has been used for many years to control planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stål) (Homoptera: Delphacidae) in China. To provide resistance assessment for the national insecticide resistance management program, we collected a total of 42 samples of the planthoppers from 27 locations covering eight provinces to monitor their dose responses and susceptibility changes to imidacloprid over an 11-yr period (1996-2006). Results showed that most field populations maintained susceptibility from 1996 to 2003 except for a population from Guilin, Guangxi, in 1997, which showed a low level of resistance to imidacloprid.

Neuronal death is a prominent neuropathological component of fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). Identification of molecular agents and pathways that can ameliorate alcohol-induced cell loss offers possible therapeutic strategies for FAS and potential insight into its pathogenesis. This study investigated the effects of growth factors on cellular survival in alcohol-exposed cerebellar granule cell (CGC) cultures and examined the role of the nitric oxide (NO)-cGMP-PKG (cGMP-dependent protein kinase) pathway in the cell survival-promoting effects of these growth factors.
