Although there is no targeted, proven treatment for FXTAS, research suggests that sulforaphane, an antioxidant present in cruciferous vegetables, can enhance mitochondrial function and maintain redox balance in the dermal fibroblasts of individuals with FXTAS, potentially leading to improved cognitive function. In a 24-week open-label trial involving 15 adults aged 60-88 with FXTAS, 11 participants successfully completed the study, demonstrating the safety and tolerability of sulforaphane.

We aimed to estimate the magnitude of and reasons for households reporting healthcare disruption in 14 Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region countries from mid-2020 to mid-2021, and its relationship with country contextual factors.
Methods: We used COVID-19 high-frequency phone surveys (HFPS) conducted in 14 LAC countries in three rounds in 2020 and one in 2021.
Despite relatively high rates of population spread, morbidity and mortality, the adoption of COVID-19 vaccines among the eligible populations was relatively slow. Some of the reasons for vaccination hesitancy and refusals have been attributed to unique aspects of this pandemic, including attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccines. However, little attention has been paid to the role of underlying vaccine beliefs in the likelihood of early vaccine adoption for COVID-19.

A secondary objective was to determine whether depletion of A2 is associated with post-CPB organ dysfunction in children.
Design: In a prospective, observational study conducted over a 1-year period in children undergoing cardiac surgery requiring CPB, we analyzed A2 expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells at different time points.
Chylous pericardial effusions are extremely rare outside of thoracic and cardiac surgery patients. We report the case of an 8-year-old girl with history of recurrent benign giant cell granulomas who developed a large chylous pericardial effusion with cardiac tamponade soon after beginning therapy with imatinib. In this article, we discuss the presentation, diagnosis, and management and review the published literature of this rarely reported side effect of this medication.

Prior studies suggest that urothelium-released adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) has a prominent role in bladder mechanotransduction. Urothelial ATP regulates the micturition cycle through activation of purinergic receptors that are expressed in many cell types in the lamina propria (LP), including afferent neurons, and might also be important for direct mechanosensitive signaling between urothelium and detrusor. The excitatory action of ATP is terminated by enzymatic hydrolysis, which subsequently produces bioactive metabolites.
