A 36-month evaluation of self-etch and etch-and-rinse adhesives in noncarious cervical lesions.

Background: There are two bonding strategies for composite restorations: the etch-and-rinse (ER) approach and the self-etch (SE) approach. Few clinical trials have evaluated the SE approach in Class V restorations for a 36-month period. The authors conducted a study to evaluate whether the SE system can provide retention rates and marginal discoloration similar to that of the ER system.

Aetiology and rates of treatment of traumatic dental injuries among 12-year-old school children in a town in southern Brazil.

The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence, aetiology, place of occurrence and rates of treatment of traumatic dental injuries (TDI) among 12-year-old schoolchildren in Herval D'Oeste, Brazil. A cross-sectional survey was carried out through clinical examination of upper and lower permanent incisors and interviews with 297, 12-year-old schoolchildren enrolled in public and private schools. An 18-months' evaluation of self-etch and etch & rinse adhesive in non-carious cervical lesions.

Objective: In this intra-individual comparison (an 18-months' randomized, controlled prospective study), we evaluated the clinical performance of one self-etch and one "etch & rinse" adhesive in non-carious cervical lesions.

Methods: Twenty-five patients with at least two pairs of similar-sized non-carious cervical lesions participated. Seventy-eight restorations were placed; 39 with etch & rinse (Single-Bond) and 39 with self-etch (Adper Prompt).
