[Nutrition of pregnant. Comparative analysis based on data from a survey of residents of Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan (on the example of Astrakhan and Baku)].

Poor nutrition of the expectant mother leads to an unfavorable course of pregnancy and a number of serious deviations in the development of the child. Therefore, a multifaceted study of the actual nutrition of a pregnant woman is relevant, including the identification of trends associated with geographical, ethnic, and family characteristics. The study was aimed at conducting a comparative analysis of the nutrition of pregnant women from two cities, Astrakhan (Russian Federation) and Baku (Republic of Azerbaijan), by means of a questionnaire.

[The effectiveness comparison of various conservative treatment options of nasopharyngeal inflammation in children].

Unlabelled: The problem of hyperplasia/inflammation of the structures of the Pirogov-Waldeyer lymphoid-pharyngeal ring and related complications is one of the most frequently discussed in pediatric practice, in particular in matters of methods and expediency of conservative treatment. The article describes the effectiveness of various regiment of conservative treatment of pediatric patients with inflammation of the pharyngeal tonsil (adenoiditis) based on the results of an open comparative observational study.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of various schemes of conservative therapy of adenoiditis in children.

Improving the Durability of Lime Finishing Mortars by Modifying Them with Silicic Acid Sol.

Lime materials are in great demand for the restoration of the walls of historical buildings. However, lime coatings have insufficient resistance during operation. The purpose of this work was the modification of lime mortars with silicic acid sol in order to obtain more durable crystalline materials for construction purposes.

[Effect of alkylresorcinols on thermal denaturation and refolding of bacterial luciferase and synthesis of heat shock proteins revealed in the luminescent molecular and cellular test systems].

Molecular and cellular luminescent biotests were used to reveal the effects of five alkylresorcinol homologues (C7-, C9-, C11-, C12-, and C18-AR) on the thermally induced denaturation and refolding ofbac- terial luciferases, as well as on the synthesis of heat shock proteins. The ARs activities were found to depend on their fine structure and concentration. Direct heat-protective effect of short-chain C7- and C9-AR on the chromatographically pure Photobactrium leiognathii luciferase/oxidoreductase was shown within broad range of concentration (10(-6)-10(-3) M).

[Use of analgesia and sedation in dental implantology in patients with concomitant hypertension].

Dental implants surgery in patients with hypertension increases the risk of vascular complications. The aim of the study was to examine the effect of analgesia and sedation on blood pressure and postoperative pain in dental implantology. In 76 patients with hypertension implant surgery was performed under local anesthesia only (40 patients) or under local anesthesia with propofol sedation and pre-emptive analgesia with ketorolac (36 patients).

[Dental and oncological status of patients with tongue carcinoma].

After the supervision over patients with cancer of mucous membrane of oral cavity (MMOC) admitted for treatment in the Tver Regional Clinical Oncological Hospital (TRCOH), the analysis of 427 primary revealed cases of cancer of mobile part of the tongue MPoT (S 02) was carried out. The study included retrospective analysis of case records of 237 patients treated from 1997 to 2013 with the diagnosis of MPoT and prospective examination of 190 patients treated by authors in specialized departments of TRCOH. On the basis of questioning of 67 III-IV stages tongue carcinoma patients at the age of 50-59 years clinical course features, cancer risk factors and oral care patterns were studied.

Regioselective and guided C-H activation of 4-nitropyrazoles.

A divergent and regioselective approach to 5-aryl-4-nitro-1H-pyrazoles was developed by guided transition-metal-catalyzed arylation of 4-nitro-1H-pyrazoles. This method provides a convenient tool for the functionalization of the pharmacologically relevant pyrazole scaffold. The scope and limitations of the methodology were studied.

[Experience of using short Bicon implants for treatment of partial and complete teeth loss].

The paper deseriebes the use of short Bicon implants for treatment of complex clinical conditions associated with inadequate width and height of alveolar bone as well as high attachment of mobile mucosa in areas with pronounced bone atrophy. The use of ultraviolet apparatus "Piezosurgery" for sunustifting and alveolar bone splitting, minimal intraoperative trauma and unique design of the implants results in successful osteointegration and formation of phusiological gingival papilla. The application of the given system of implants for treatment of partial and complete teeth loss in complex coses allows achieving good long-term functional and esthetic results without preliminary operations for bone or softissue augmentation.

[Results of employment and improvement of postresectional cheiloplasty method with full thickness layer of labio-buccal flaps].

Results of 128 findings on cheiloplasty with full thickness ayer of labio-buccal flaps were summarized by the autors. Esthetic and functional results of postresectional cheiloplasty with sliding of full-thickness labio-buccal flaps were preferable when central and labial defects 1/3-1/2 and central defect 2/3 of the lower lip were filled in. The investigators suggested their own modification of the metod which combines quality of reconstruction of muscular oral sphincter and advantages of given expansion of oral fissure.

Activated protein C via PAR1 receptor regulates survival of neurons under conditions of glutamate excitotoxicity.

The effect of an anticoagulant and cytoprotector blood serine proteinase--activated protein C (APC)--on survival of cultured hippocampal and cortical neurons under conditions of glutamate-induced excitotoxicity has been studied. Low concentrations of APC (0.01-10 nM) did not cause neuron death, but in the narrow range of low concentrations APC twofold and stronger decreased cell death caused by glutamate toxicity.

[Turpentine baths in rehabilitation of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].

We have investigated effects of turpentine baths with white emultion, yellow solution and mixed on the course of inflammation, immunocompetent system, external respiration function, pulmonary cardiohemodynamics, physical performance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We developed differential indications for each bath variant depending on the features of a clinical picture of the disease, comorbid pathology and revealed contraindications to their administration.

[IR spectroscopic research on the impact of chemical analogues of autoregulatory d1 factors of microorganisms on structural changes in DNA].

Using IR spectroscopy, we investigated the impact of chemical analogues of autoregulatory d1 factors of microorganisms (methylresorcinol, hexylresorcinol, and tyrosol) on the conformational changes in DNA in films upon altering (decreasing) the relative humidity. We analyzed the appearance/disappearance of characteristic absorption bands of A and B DNA forms and determined D1080/D1224, the ratio between the band intensities of symmetrical and asymmetrical oscillations in their phosphate groups. The data obtained suggest the slowing down of the B-->A structural transition in DNA in the presence of methylresorcinol and its speeding up in the presence of tyrosol.

[Long-term preservation of DNA in aqueous solutions in the presence of the chemical analogues of microbial autoregulators].

The fact of long-term preservation of the physicochemical properties of DNA molecules in aqueous solutions in complexes with methylresorcinol, hexylresorcinol, and tyrosol, the chemical analogues of microbial autoregulators (d1 factors) from the group of alkylhydroxybenzenes (AOB), was established. Compared to the control variants of storage of aqueous DNA solutions, the AOB influence consisted in the sum of correlating effects: the prevention of DNA degradation (according to spectrophotometric parameters) and the preservation of its viscous characteristics and electrophoretic mobility. The initial DNA properties were preserved to the greatest degree in the presence of hexylresorcinol, the compound with the longest alkyl radical.

[Influence of chemical analogues of microbial autoregulators on the sensitivity of DNA to UV radiation].

We established that chemical analogues of alkylhydroxybenzenes (AHB), belonging to alkylresorcinols and functioning as microbial autoregulatory d1 factors, enhance the UV resistance of various DNA molecules of different origin and conformation. These include the linear DNA of the lambda phage, bovine spleen DNA, and the DNA of the pUC19 plasmid that is composed of a number of annular (supercoiled and relaxed) and linearized molecules. Irradiating DNA with UV light (lambda = 254 nm) in the presence of methylresorcinol (MR) or hexylresorcinol (HR) results in comparatively insignificant DNA destruction as evidenced by our data on the electrophoretic mobility pattern in agarose gel.

Interpolyelectrolyte reactions in solutions of polycarboxybetaines, 2: influence of alkyl spacer in the betaine moieties on complexing with polyanions.

Series of polycarboxybetaines (PCB-n) of pyridiniocarboxylate structure with the same degree of polymerization but differing in the number, n, of methylene groups in the alkyl spacer between charges in the betaine moieties, n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8, were synthesized. The utility of PCB-n as positively charged components of polyelectrolyte complexes was elucidated by potentiometry, turbidimetry, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Affinity of PCB-n to the pyrenyl-tagged poly(methacrylic) acid (PMAA) or DNA was judged from the stability of the corresponding polyelectrolyte complexes in water-salt solutions at different pH values as monitored by fluorescence quenching techniques.

Natural products as templates for bioactive compound libraries: part 2. Novel modifications of vasicine (peganine) core via efficient and regioselective generation of 3-lithiodeoxyvasicine and its stereoselective addition to aliphatic ketones section sign.

A general procedure for direct lithiation of deoxyvasicine was developed. 3-Lithiodeoxyvasicine intermediate was found to react with various aliphatic ketones providing derivatives of 3-(hydroxyalkyl)deoxyvasicine in good yields. Similar reaction with 4-alkylcyclohexanones yielded respective trans-adducts exclusively.

Natural products as templates for bioactive compound libraries: synthesis of biaryl derivatives of (+/-)-vasicine.

A reliable and high-yielding procedure for preparation of 7-aryl and 7-heteroaryl derivatives of (+/-)-vasicine in two steps from the naturally occurring material is described. This protocol broadens the chemical space for selective modifications of the vasicine tricyclic structure, thereby making it a valuable starting point for the development of novel compound libraries with potentially beneficial biological profiles.

[Mechanisms of interaction between DNA and chemical analogues of microbial anabiosis autoinducers].

The alkylhydroxybenzene (AHB) autoregulatory factors d1 (fd1) of microorganisms have been found to directly interact with highly polymeric DNA. This circumstance results in changes, related to alterations in the topology of this macromolecule, in DNA physicochemical properties. The physicochemical properties of DNA in the presence of chemical analogues of microbial AHBs (methylresorcinol; hexylresorcinol; and 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethane-1-ol, also known as tyrosol) were investigated using adsorption spectrophotometry, fluorometry, heat denaturation, viscosimetry, and electrophoresis in agarose gel.
