Biopharmaceutical studies of a novel sedative sublingual lozenge based on glycine and tryptophan: A rationale for mucoadhesive agent selection.

Effective sedative drugs are in great demand due to increasing incidence of nervous disorders. The present work was aimed to develop a novel sublingual sedative drug based on glycine and L-tryptophan amino acids. Carbopol and different hydroxypropyl methylcellulose species were alternatively tested as mucoadhesive agents intended to prolong tryptophan sublingual release time.

[Detection of activating mutations in RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK and JAK/STAT signaling pathways].

Issue: The study of activating mutations (NRAS,KRAS,FLT3,JAK2,CRLF2genes) of RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK and JAK/STAT signaling pathways in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) in adult patients which are included in Russian multicenter clinical trials.

Materials And Methods: Within the multicenter study there were 119 adult patients included withde novoB-ALL. The study was considered as prospective and retrospective.

The authors revealed changes in weight-height values to increase among underground workers of "SIBENCO" JSC. Ageing appeared to associate with higher weight irrespective of occupational group.

Unlabelled: The background: the increased frequency of serious consequences of perinatal lesions in the central nervous system of the young children dictates the necessity to develop the effective methods of physiotherapy for the early-stage rehabilitation of such patients on the basis of an objective assessment of the adaptive reserves of the organism.

Material And Methods: The present study involved 53 children at the age from 1 to 12 months presenting with the consequences of perinatal lesions to the central nervous system. Thirty of the children were treated with the use of electrophoresis in the form of Polymineral wipes on the basis of natural iodine-bromine water.

[The role of enteral oxygen-therapy in the correction of functional disturbances in the autonomic nervous system of the children presenting with chronic diseases of the respiratory organs].

Background: Vegetative dysfunction is observed in 60-90% of the children presenting with chronic respiratory diseases. Its timely identification and correction increases the effectiveness of the combined rehabilitative treatment of such patients.

Material And Methods: The vegetative regulation was dynamically evaluated by the analysis of the heart rate variability in 95 patients presenting with bronchial asthma and chronic nonspecific lung diseases.

[Palivizumab: four seasons in Russia].

In 2010, the Russian Federation (RF) registered palivizumab--innovative drug, based on monoclonal antibodies for passive immunization of seasonal respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in children of disease severe progress risk group, which include primarily premature infants, children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease. Currently, palivizumab is included in the list of recommended medicines and medical care standards of different countries, including Russia. In the review the results of Russian research on the progress of RSV infection, its epidemiology and immunization experience gained over the 2010-2014 period are summarized in relation to the foreign data.

Biomarkers of spontaneous preterm birth: an overview of the literature in the last four decades.

Background: Understanding spontaneous preterm birth ([PTB] < 37 weeks) is difficult due to heterogeneities associated with multitudes of risk factors and pathophysiological pathways. Several biomarkers are routinely used clinically for predicting preterm labor; however, these factors are either nonspecific or detected too late.

Objective: Systematic review of literature on PTB biomarkers in the last 40 years to map out the existing knowledge and gaps in understanding PTB biomarkers.

[Clinical aspects of tracheostomy as a stage of anterolateral laryngeal resection].

We analysed medical histories of 68 patients with T2-3N0M0 laryngeal cancer who had received combined or surgical treatment. All the patients given the organ preservation treatment were divided into two groups one of which included 36 patients after laryngeal resection without tracheostomy, the other consisted of 32 patients who had undergone laryngectomy with tracheostomy (control). The two groups were matched for age and sex of the patients, the degree of advancement and histological structure of the tumour, its growth rate and localization, dose and schedule of radiotherapy, extent of surgical intervention.

[Evaluation of late results of laryngeal cancer treatment with the use of polymer endoprostheses].

Application of biocompatible polymer-based endoprostheses (EG 1-4, TS 42-2-476-85) for the treatment of laryngeal cancer made it possible to achieve good oncological outcome in the late postoperative period and ensured high-quality functional rehabilitation of the patients. The estimated 3-year survival rate following endoprosthetic treatment amounted to 73.9%, 5-year survival rate was 67.

[Annual variation in hematological indices in a fluctuating population of bank vole (Clethrionomys glareolus)].

The quantitative and structural hematological indices were studied in bank vole in different reproductive states (overwintered individuals, mature underyearlings, and immature underyearlings) in different years corresponding to different phases of the population cycle. The annual changes in certain hematological indices have been revealed for each reproductive state irrespective of the population cycle phase.

Hematological and hematopoietic indices were studied in various seasons in bank vole in different reproductive states. The seasonal variation in the indices demonstrated patterns typical of each state and reflecting the adaptive response to changed habitat conditions.

[Efficacy of levofloxacin (Tavanic) in the treatment of children with chronic pulmonary diseases].

The efficacy of the fluoroquinolone levofloxacin in the treatment of 35 children with bronchopulmonary disease exacerbation was practically the same as that of amoxycillin/clavulanate, cefotaxime or ceftriaxone. The clinical and bacteriological results were favourable. The eradication of the pathogens responsible for the bronchopulmonary inflammations in 86% of the patients was stated.

[Multiple molecular-genetic defects in a woman with mixed hyperlipoproteinemia and early ischemic heart disease].

Aim: Analysis of genes of apolipoprotein E (apoE), LDLP receptor and methylentetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) in a female patient with mixed hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP) and early ischemic heart disease (IHD).

Material And Methods: A patient with a mixed form of HLP and 5 her relatives were examined genetically. The genotype of apoE and MTHFR was determined using a restrictive analysis of PCR fragments.

[Effect of tanakan on psychophysiological status of patients with asthenic disorders].

A clinical pharmacological 56-day trial was devoted to the effect of tanakan on the psychophysiological state of 26 patients with psychogenic and post-traumatic asthenic disorders. The drug was found to produce a positive effect on the psychophysiological state, with most pronounced improvement in the attention characteristics, short-term visual memory, operational component, and integral operator performance index. The results confirmed the positive action of tanakan on the cognitive and mnestic functions, which is analogous to the effect of nootropes.

[Relation between mexidol glucuronide conjugation and characteristics of its therapeutic effect in patients with organic lesions in the central nervous system].

The clinico-pharmacological and pharmacokinetic investigation of mexidole administered in patients with organic CNS damage showed for the first time that there is a correlation between intensity of the drug--glucurone conjugation and the parameters of psychopathological symptom expression and the individual patient state estimation before treatment and upon a single administration or a course of mexidole therapy. This correlation allows the clinico-pharmacological effects and the therapeutic efficacy of mexidole to be predicted based on the drug metabolism index.

[Therapeutic action and efficiency of fevarin (fluvoxamine) in patients with non-psychotic anxious and apathic-adynamic depressions].

10 patients with anxious and 10 patients with apathic-adynamic depressions were treated with fevarin. The efficiency of the drug and its influence on the psychopathologic structure were evaluated according to some scales. It was established that therapeutic action of fevarin manifests from the 1st week of therapy in patients with anxious depressions due to its anxiolytic properties.

[Anesthesia in the early postoperative period in patients who had undergone extensive surgical interventions on the colon with plastic repair].

Reconstructive plastic (n = 24) and repair operations (n = 23) on the colon were performed in 47 patients at Coloproctology Research Center (Moscow). The patients were divided into 2 groups administered different anesthesias and postoperative analgesias: total intravenous anesthesia (TIA) and combined epidural anesthesia (CEA). Adequate analgesia by CEA and early activation of patients after the operation promoted earlier (by 2 days) recovery of the motor function of the intestine than after TIA and traditional intramuscular analgesia with a narcotic analgetic.

["Fast" and "slow" components of psychotropic activity of the drugs with nootropic effects].

A clinical-pharmacological study was carried out to evaluate correlation of "fast" (nonspecific) and "slow" (specific) components of the action of the drugs with nootropic properties (piracetam, mexidol, tanacan) and to estimate their contribution to achieving therapeutic efficacy. The study was performed during 28 days using standard quantitative assay techniques in 79 patients with "Organic emotional-liable (asthenic) disorders" (F06.6, ICD-10).

[The kinetics of the urinary excretion of mexidol and its glucuronate conjugate in patients].

Using HPLC with fluorescence detector we studied elimination kinetics of the antioxidant drug mexidol and its glucuronoconjugated metabolite in 16 patients suffering from neurosis and traumatic CNS injury after receiving mexadol (in a dose of 500 mg, in tablets). [Our method of functional rheography of eye].

The technology of rheoophthalmogram obtaining and processing is modified by creating an automated rheographic complex (ARGC). The test for assessing the function of ocular vessels includes recording of the background rheoophthalmogram, local 10-min hypothermal exposure (+10 +/- 2 degrees C), and repeated recording of rheoophthalmogram 10 and 20 min after hypothermal exposure. The test helps determine the type of neurovascular reaction and the index of ocular vessel elasticity.
