As advancements in digital health lead to the generation of increasingly diverse and voluminous pharmaceutical data, it is increasingly critical that we teach trainee pharmaceutical scientists how to leverage this data to lead future innovations in health care and pharmaceutical research. The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Pediatric Expert Panel is made up of pediatric physicians from the disciplines of radiology, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, respirology, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, urology, a patient advisor, and an epidemiologist/guideline methodologist. After developing a list of 50 clinical/diagnostic scenarios, a rapid scoping review was undertaken to identify systematically produced referral guidelines that provide recommendations for one or more of these clinical/diagnostic scenarios. Recommendations from 32 guidelines and contextualization criteria in the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) for guidelines framework were used to develop 133 recommendation statements across the 50 scenarios.

From this set, we report the structure and properties of SrGaOCuSe for the first time, as well as the full structural details of SrScOCuSe, which have not previously been available. A systematic study of the suitability of all of the Sr OCu phases as -type conductors has been carried out, after doping with both sodium and potassium to a nominal composition of Sr OCu, ( = Na or K), to increase the hole carrier concentration.

Hydrogen atom abstraction is an important elementary chemical process but is very difficult to carry out enantioselectively. We have developed catalysts, readily derived from the Cinchona alkaloid family of natural products, which can achieve this by virtue of their chiral amine structure. The catalyst, following single-electron oxidation, desymmetrizes -diols by selectively abstracting a hydrogen atom from one carbon center, which then regains a hydrogen atom by abstraction from a thiol.

The structure, band gaps and electrical conductivity of pristine and alkali-metal-doped samples have been determined. We find that the strontium-containing compound, SrZnOCuSe, adopts the expected tetragonal structure with 4/ symmetry, and has a band gap of 2.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted of PubMed/Medline, Embase and Google Scholar databases per the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) for studies which employed serum or plasma OSMx analysis for diagnostic or prognostic purposes in patients with TBI.
Results: Eight studies were included.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: In our earlier efforts to establish gut-brain axis during alcohol use disorder (AUD), we have demonstrated that supplementation of C57BL/6J male mice with 8 mg/mL sodium butyrate, a major short-chain fatty acid, in drinking water reduced ethanol intake and neuroinflammatory response in antibiotic (ABX)-enhanced voluntary binge-like alcohol consumption model, drinking in the dark (DID).
Methods: To further evaluate the preclinical potential of SB, we have set a dose-escalation study in C57BL/6J male mice to test effects of ad libitum 20 mg/mL SB and 50 mg/mL SB and their combinations with ABX in the DID procedure for 4 weeks. Effects of these SB concentrations on ethanol consumption and bodily parameters were determined for the duration of the treatments.

The many diverse polymorphic behaviors observed in organic electronic materials offer opportunities to modulate electronic properties through reversibly switching crystal structures. Here, we access the prolific polymorphism observed in two-dimensional quinoidal terthiophene via laser writing to locally heat and direct the phase transitions. We access a metastable polymorph IV through rapid cooling and observe distinct symmetry as well as packing through grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GIXD).

Housing is a non-chemical stressor that is a major determinant of cardiovascular health, however, disparities in neighborhood and social status have exacerbated the cardiovascular health gaps within the United States. We piloted a score report for the Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory-Patient Reported Outcome (PEDI-PRO) and evaluated: 1) To what extent can occupational and physical therapists (OT, PT) accurately interpret item-response theory (IRT)-based PEDI-PRO assessment results? 2) What is the perceived clinical utility of the pilot score report?
Methods: Exploratory, sequential mixed methods design. Focus groups with OT and PTs ( = 20) informed the development of the final score report; revisions were made in response to feedback.
Vaccines aim to efficiently and specifically activate the immune system a cascade of antigen uptake, processing, and presentation by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to CD4 and CD8 T cells, which in turn drive humoral and cellular immune responses. The specific formulation of vaccine carriers can not only shield the antigens from premature sequestering before reaching APCs but also favorably promote intracellular antigen presentation and processing.
