For individuals with Duchenne or Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD and BMD, respectively), transitioning to adulthood presents significant challenges. Although considerable attention has been given to facilitating medical transitions due to the complexity of these conditions, less focus has been placed on other aspects of the transition, such as achieving independence. This study assessed the transition needs of people with DMD or BMD, exploring various domains including health, education, employment, living arrangements, transportation, daily activities, and independent personal life.

Viable Echinococcus spp. eggs released into the environment through the feces of canids can infect humans through accidental ingestion via hand-to-mouth contact or consumption of contaminated food or water.

Trait mindfulness has been robustly associated with positive mental health outcomes, but its neural underpinnings are poorly understood. Prior resting-state fMRI studies have associated trait mindfulness with within- and between-network connectivity of the default-mode (DMN), fronto-parietal (FPN), and salience networks.

This study investigated the effects of idiopathic hypersomnia on social relationships (friends, romantic, and sexual) during the key developmental period of young adulthood.
Methods: Young adults (N = 106; 18-39years) with idiopathic hypersomnia were recruited through national hypersomnia patient organizations.
Studies with genetically modified mice have implicated the transcriptional regulator STAT3 as a key modulator of bone development. STAT3-OKO knockout mouse lines were generated in two genetic backgrounds, pure C57BL/6 (STAT3-OKO-BL) and mixed C57BL/6, CD1 (STAT3-OKO-M). Both lines exhibited defective postnatal bone development resulting in reduced body weight and shortened femurs that displayed low bone mineral density as well as cortical widening and thinning in the diaphyseal region.

Using a series of linked regressions, this analysis quantifies how complementary data relate to one another and respond to treatments. Despite these advances, existing software's rigid assumptions often result in users viewing mediation analysis as a black box.

Failure to address contamination from microbes, reagents, and present-day sources can impact the interpretation of results. Although field and laboratory protocols exist to limit contamination, there is still a need to accurately distinguish between endogenous and exogenous data computationally.

In a longitudinal cluster randomized controlled trial (k = 8, n = 98), we examined the impact of a 9-week meditation-based intervention on undergraduate preservice teachers' rates of attrition from teaching approximately 4 years later. The odds of attrition among intervention group participants 3 years into their teaching careers were significantly reduced by at least 77.

Evidence suggests the effects of CM exceed predictions based on the value of the incentives delivered for monosubstance abstinence. In this systematic review, we examine common variations of CM interventions applied to a single substance to determine what factors may contribute to the larger effect.

Mindfulness meditation may promote alternate brain states, improving affect and reducing stress. An understanding of the neural basis between these brain states could thus advance treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions, including those associated with epilepsy.

Meditation is a family of ancient and contemporary contemplative mind-body practices that can modulate psychological processes, awareness, and mental states. Over the last 40 years, clinical science has manualised meditation practices and designed various meditation interventions (MIs), that have shown therapeutic efficacy for disorders including depression, pain, addiction, and anxiety. Over the past decade, neuroimaging has examined the neuroscientific basis of meditation practices, effects, states, and outcomes for clinical and non-clinical populations.

Telescoped continuous reactions have the potential to reduce waste by decreasing the number of separate unit operations (e.g.

Prior work has linked expressive suppression usage with increases in cardiovascular disease risk, suggesting that racialized differences in expressive suppression usage may be one mechanism by which racism "gets under the skin" and creates health disparities.
Method: To examine racialized differences in expressive suppression and blood pressure (a measure of cardiovascular disease risk), we used self-report and facial electromyography (fEMG) data from two cohorts of Black and White Americans from the Midlife in the United States (MIDUS) longitudinal study (MIDUS 2, n = 271, 34.
Introduction: Seymour physeal fractures of the distal phalanx of the Hallux in children are common but rarely described in the literature. There is limited literature investigating how these fractures should be specifically treated. Generally, good results are reported when open fractures are treated with debridement and antibiotics.

The observed phosphorescent emissions, vibronic (involving L = ppy) and broad (L = pyX), arise from different triplet ligand to metal charge transfers from the two rotational conformers at distinct MLCT excited states. Both conformers exist in these Ir(ppy)(pyX)Cl rotors due to the electron-withdrawing, conjugated substituent X.

Understanding the failure mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries is essential for their greater adoption in diverse formats. Operando X-ray and electron microscopy enable the evaluation of concentration, phase, and stress heterogeneities in electrode architectures. Phase-field models are commonly used to capture multi-physics coupling including the interplay between electrochemistry and mechanics.

Although PD-1 blockade can improve viral and tumor control, physiological PD-1 expression prevents immunopathology and improves memory formation. The mechanisms driving high PD-1 expression in exhaustion are not well understood and could be critical to disentangling its beneficial and detrimental effects.
