Objective: To investigate the most common causes of death and trends in cause-specific long-term mortality in patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: This analysis was based on 10,718 patients, aged 25-74 years, recorded by the population-based Myocardial Infarction Registry Augsburg between 2000 and 2017. All hospitalized cases of AMI occurring in the study region during this period were included.
