An aneurysm of the pulmonary artery is a rare but severe complication in patients suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension. For these patients, a lung or heart-lung transplant is the only definitive therapy available. Our goal was to show a reconstruction strategy in a patient with a mismatch between the pulmonary artery and the donor aorta.

Lung transplantation may be the only option when treatment with vasodilators is insufficient. We present the case of a young male patient with a history of arterial switch in neonatal period who undergoes double lung transplantation owing to late pulmonary hypertension.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 161 SLTs performed between June 2012 and June 2019. The incidence of carcinoma in the native lung and its influence on patient survival was determined.
Sternal osteomyelitis is a serious complication that significantly increases morbidity and mortality after thoracic surgery. We describe a case of sternal osteomyelitis by Trichosporon inkin following lung transplantation and the excellent results achieved with vacuum-assisted closure therapy.

Patients And Methods: Retrospective review of 258 lung transplants performed between June 2012 and June 2019. Among them, 161 SLT were selected for the analysis.
Objective: Lung transplantation (LT) for pulmonary fibrosis is related to higher mortality than other transplant indications. We aim to assess whether the amount of anterior mediastinal fat (AMF) was associated to early and long-term outcomes in fibrotic patients undergoing LT.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 92 consecutive single lung transplants (SLT) for pulmonary fibrosis over a 10-year period.
Anastomotic airway complications after lung transplantation affect up to 20% of patients. Bronchial stenosis is the most frequent complication, while dehiscence of bronchial anastomosis is a rarely seen complication, with report incidences between 1% and 10%. Despite its low incidence, dehiscence of bronchial anastomoses remains a disastrous complication in the posttransplantation period without a well-established management protocol.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) appears to be effective in the treatment of these patients. We evaluated whether ESCS modifies tissue oxygen saturation (StO ) measured with near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) in the affected limbs in patients diagnosed with CRPS type I.

A known difficult airway in which it is necessary to carry out an orotracheal intubation while preserving spontaneous ventilation subjects the patient to a stressful situation. The objective is to obtain an acceptable level of comfort and sedation avoiding respiratory depression (Anesthesiol Clin 2015;33:233-40).
