Unlabelled: Gross anatomy is a critical course for the development of a variety of skills such as anatomical knowledge and spatial, critical, and clinical reasoning. There have been few attempts to integrate clinical applications in gross anatomy, with the majority of these being in the lecture hall and not in the laboratory. Clinical cases and guided questions were added to a laboratory manual (Clinically Oriented Laboratory Manuals (COLMs)) in a first-year medical gross anatomy prosection course during COVID-19.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe Schlieren method has been used before to visualize weak shock waves radiated from the open ends of brass instruments, but no attempt has previously been undertaken, however, to measure the geometry of the radiated wavefronts using the Schlieren images. In this paper Schlieren visualization is used to estimate the geometry of the two-dimensional shock wavefronts radiated from the bell of a trumpet at different frequencies. It is observed that the geometry of the shocks does change with frequency, in the expected manner.

The PMHS responses were then compared to matched tests performed using the Hybrid-III 50(th) percentile male ATD.
Methods: Matched dynamic frontal sled tests were performed on two male PMHSs, which were approximately 50(th) percentile height and weight, and the Hybrid-III 50(th) percentile male ATD.
A frequently encountered task in the forensic scenario is verification of the human origin of severely degraded fragments of bone. In these cases histological methods which consider osteon size and morphology can prove to be useful. The authors in the present study verify the applicability of published algorithms to flat and subadult bones from human, dog, cat, cow, rabbit, sheep, pig, chicken, quail, and turkey samples.

Monitoring luxAB-dependent luminescence through the growth curve demonstrated that in Fe-replete media, transcription from the isiAB promoter was induced transiently in the mid-exponential phase of growth.
