Objective: Lost dentures can be a frustrating scenario for both patients and clinicians. This study aimed to find out where dentures were being lost and the level of assistance patients received with denture care.

Results: The results showed most dentures were lost in the hospital environment, and in many cases patients were not provided with pots in which to store their dentures or offered help or advice on denture care.

Objective: To assess the oral health impact profile (OHIP) on edentulous subjects in Scotland and England who needed to have their dentures replaced, and to determine whether any change in the subjects' assessment of their original and replacement dentures impacted on oral health related quality of life parameters.

Background: The loss of all teeth may impact on functional activities. The OHIP is an instrument used to measure subjects' perception of the social impact of oral disorders on their well being.

Objective: To assess the oral health knowledge amongst nurses working with elderly people in a local hospital run by a Primary Care Trust before and after a dental training talk.

Method: Nursing staff working at Swanage Cottage Hospital completed a questionnaire designed to assess their knowledge of dental decay, periodontal disease, oral hygiene, denture care and palliative care. One month after receiving a dental talk, the questionnaire was redistributed to the participants.

Aim: To evaluate the success and maintenance requirements of cylindrical, hydroxyapatite coated implants used as single-tooth implants.

Design: A five-year prospective trial.

Method: Twenty patients, attending the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at GKT Dental Institute, London, were provided with 23 Calcitek, Integral Omniloc single tooth implants.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the maintenance requirements of implant-supported fixed prostheses with cantilever arms in edentulous jaws when opposed by fixed prostheses of similar design, by natural teeth, or by complete dentures.

Materials And Methods: The maintenance requirements for the 5-year follow-up period were obtained by examining the dental records of 37 people. Six were provided with fixed prostheses in both arches, 22 with a fixed prosthesis in the mandible opposed by a complete denture, and 9 with a fixed prosthesis opposed by natural teeth.
